✗ the basics.
independent squall leonhart from final fantasy viii.

crossovers are welcome, as i’m familiar with most final fantasy titles.
important to note: while there are a few iterations of squall's character, my portrayal will mostly involve his characteristics as seen in the original final fantasy viii — even when writing for his other appearances ( i.e. dissidia, etc. )
that said, i will maintain a heavy preference to not write as leon from kingdom hearts due to my own personal views on these two characters. i know where the angle is coming from, but i don't see them as synonymous. my loyalist heart remains with the original interpretation.
all of my writing will be done in lower case formatting.
✘ communication.
in-character, out-of-character, and anonymously inspired messages are welcome at any time. because i will be writing at my own pace, responses to certain asks or memes may be sparse. submissions are welcome at any time unless specifically stated they are no longer being accepted. i’m hardly one to refuse, but if you have any questions about turning a message or response into a thread — don’t hesitate to reach out.
reblog karma is not important to me. reblog whatever you would like, as often or as frequently as it pleases you. never feel obligated to send me something just because — i will always prefer that you submit something out of genuine interest instead of obligation. my time is precious, as is yours.
any form of hate or drama will not be tolerated. if something comes up, please feel free to communicate with me. conversations are important if an offense has taken place, but not always necessary. but if i’ve broken a rule of yours, or made you uncomfortable somehow, i want you to feel comfortable opening up a dialogue to address it.
✘ relationships.
pre-established: this is welcome with the right discussion before-hand. it is completely understood that meeting characters on a whim can be trite, and goes against squall’s very nature. i’m more than happy to skip some initial introductions when applicable or to write them in as a small piece of a greater whole.
mains and exclusives: this is not within my usual practice, as i am a firm believer that every individual writing a character brings something unique and their own to the table. this may tentatively change as i gauge the community and what may arise from interactions. fellow squall writers and enthusiasts are welcomed in this space.
shipping: preferably based on chemistry and outofcharacter interactions for the sake of comfort. however, squall is very withdrawn as a character and his approach to relationships in general ( platonic relationships, even ) is very aligned with a fearful-avoidant attachment style due to childhood trauma. he’s working on this as a whole with development, but it takes time to unlearn behaviors that are engrained like instinct. that said, all you have to do is ask if there’s an interest!
