Tbh I feel like a lot of what I like about the 2016 Batman beyond comic is the ideas they introduce. It just sucks because I feel like a lot of them don’t get followed through on.
Like, where’s Jason and Duke? They mention them by name, and I have a hard time believing either of them would leave Gotham to descend into chaos. There was an opportunity to really explore how Bruce drove the people in his life away but nope, they show up for like two pages and never again.
And Max! She took Matt in and essentially raised him for a good while, you’re telling me that they move to Bristol and she never interacts with them again? She literally shows up in other issues they didn’t forget about her she just doesn’t ever interact with them in a meaningful way.
And Elaina has the potential to be a really cool parallel to Terry, with both of them taking up the mantle semi-against their mentors will. But they don’t interact much with each other. Also don’t get me started on the fact they never gave her mom even a first name.
They bring up the fact that Terry doesn’t really have a life outside of being batman and present it as a problem but then they never give him a life outside of being Batman.
Overall the series just feels a bit unfinished imo
