July 13: Welcome back me!
Hello all! It's my first post, woot! (Minus the reblog from Taylor Swift, what can I say, I can’t control myself.)
I think having a blog is healthy, and I've been using blogger (former blogspot, always Google's platform for blogs) but, even as I don't want to admit it, Tumblr has a better platform and I just like it more. Don't get me wrong, if more people used Blogger then it would be better (cough Google + is actually way better than facebook), but they don't. So, in light of accidentally deleting my old blog here I am!
Deleting my old blog was actually super sad. I had meant to delete my 'reblog' blog but my personal blog I had not meant to remove. It sucks because there were a lot of posts, and now I work from scratch. I like to have blogs with a lot of posts because I like going through them. I'm a nostalgic type of gal - every day it seems I get a notification from Facebook " You've got a memory with [blank] a year ago today. " I like it because, overall, with the blaring exception of last summer around this time, the past 5 or so years of my life have been fantastic. I also like to see where I was, where I am now, and compare notes. I change every day, and it's nice to check and be sure every once and a while that I am changing for the better.
Anyway, what have I been up to? Well, over the weekend (after a day and a half of moping around the house Thursday/Friday because having an IUD put in HURTS) I went to my friend’s birthday party. It was fun, roomie and Boyfriend made steak and I bullied my little sisters new (27 year old!) boyfriend. We'd played games, chit chatted, ate dinner and were now enjoying a post dinner/cake communication between friends. Friend came onto the porch and asked if I was fine with Boyfriend cutting the watermelon with such a big knife. "He's fine," I remember saying. "He's a big boy."
He promptly cut himself, and after deliberation determined he would cough up the $100 co-pay (oh to have health insurance thinks blissfully) to go to the ER. It was good that he did because, after ushering the 19-year-old to the childrens section, we were told he would need sitches. He got so much liquid shot into his thumb to numb it that it swelled. He had to get more as she sewed it up. 6 stiches, all individually tied up, later he was grumpy, hurting, and happy to get some tylenol PM.
All in all he's fine but daym that looked painful. When people get stiches by the way, it's impossible to look anywhere else but where the doctor is stiching. Your eyes are drawn to it, and it's unavoidable.
After that Sunday was a lazy day. We went out two separate times. Once to Target to get coloring tools for Boyfriend, so he could 'properly' color in the coloring book he ordered. (Apparently my expansive selection of coloring pencils, markers, and crayons wasn't enough for him...) Then, later on, a quick run to the grocery store for bagels and cheese cake. That was my fickle purchase. Boyfriend then picked up popeyes for dinner, blessed be my amazing boyfriend, while I watched Friends and a sleeping puppy.
Finally, the weekend ended with the fun of removing gauze from a dried -scabbed wound and learning that when Boyfriend goes "ooo" Batman loses his mind(see below, video here).
Overall, minus the trip to the emergency room, it was a good weekend. My sister is home (with her boyfriend there all the freaking time, jc) so Mom's place seems more like it was when I lived there : busy and full. I know she misses my dad, but my mom also enjoys all of the moming she gets to do.
XO everyone!
Staaaaahp!
