Speaking of Aotearoa's bats

Due to the lack of land-based mammal competition, the pekapeka (or NZ lesser short-tailed bat) hunts for bugs on the ground as well as on the wing.

They'll even gang up together to take down insects heavier than themselves, like the wētā.

This can actually be pretty dangerous, as wētā can not only be double the bat's weight, but have wicked mandibles and huge spiny legs they can kick forward for defense.

2# Edge:".....It was great and the same as always."

3# (On the second day of Dia de Muertos - Nighttime, near midnight)

I made a headcanon where Edge and her mom visit their relatives(on her mom’s father’s side) from Mexico and spends a few days there with the family.  But, on certain holidays, like Dia de Muertos(Day of the Dead), they have to get there early to celebrate. When they get to her grandpapa’s home, they are, of course, welcomed, and wait for the rest of the family to arrive the next day. When all of the other family members come to the home, they start to get ready for the fiestã immediately!  They make colorful skull pinatãs, the younger cousins paint Edge’s face as a skull(she lets them do it all the time when she visits), get the food ready for their deceased relatives, make the festive costumes for the kids, and do other stuff for the holiday.   When Dia de Muertos finally starts, they decorate the alters, give offerings to their deceased family, and enjoy the food and the fiestã.  

However, there is one thing keeping Edge from enjoying the holiday: demons keep possessing certain Mexican legends, like el chupacabras to attack the locals, and try to steal the souls of the deceased.  She sometimes has to kill these demons when she visits, so that they will not terrorize and/or kill the people and her family.  

And, most importantly, she CANNOT tell or reveal her identity as a half-angel to her family.  Her mom told her that they can’t handle it if her father’s (or even her mother’s!) family found out about Edge, and she is not wrong about that.

I was mostly inspired by @borisandtheswapmachine ’s Andy(Angel Bendy) to draw this! <D  

Because I drew this on the last day of the Day of the Dead, I thought that this would be perfect to talk about one part of Edge’s family.  I really do like and respect the holiday and culture, and Edge is part Mexican in my au <:)

Also, I wanted to talk about her family earlier, but I had no time to do it back then. So, I might have to explain more about the other characters’ histories(since I really do love character lore no joke) when I have time now since I want to draw and write more of this au <:/c
