I love Batu.

Because, while I wouldnt be a maniac about it, it is so deeply logical to be upset that you didnt get magic when everyone else in your family did.

Imagine the pain as a child, trying and trying again.

Imagine watching your body ache and groan, while they stay young.

Imagine their mocking smiles and gentleness, their love and reassurance stinging even worse because you'll always be less then them.

Imagine if one of us realised we were the only ones without and our siblings would outlive us in glory.

Imagine if one of us realised that we were an ordinary thing in a magical world.

Wouldnt we, too, hate them?

Thats why I love Batu. He is the realest of evils: Envy.
