Ow, my feels...
In that little sidequest where Sidon teaches the kids how to swim faster, then looks sad when they rush to show Mipha, I’ve been thinking, “Aw, they forgot all about him, poor baby!” But then it hit me - he was probably reflecting on his childhood and all the times he couldn’t show his progress to Mipha.
aw man how long has searching likes in xkit been gone

in his next visit to demacia, the defender brings with him a finely wrapped box, which he gifts the maven when they meet once again. "milady. i recall you wanted a clock, yes?" placing it upon her palms, he can't help a tiny little smile. "well. want no longer."
At first she didn’t understand. A gift? Well that was very kind of him. But once the package was in her hands... the tiniest, almost invisible little vibration. She could feel it before she heard it. Sona did her best to contain the shaking in her hands as she unwrapped it, but her heart was suddenly racing.
A pocketwatch! A smaller clock that could be carried around! She didn’t even need, or have interest, in releasing the plate that covered the glass shell of the timepiece. She didn’t care much about the actual time (though certainly that was very nice to know). That sound! As if it were a precious newborn kitten the maven held it to her cheek so she could hear it “purr”. Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick...
It was beautiful. The construction of the timepiece was beautiful, but more than just its looks. She could hear the tiny little gears inside, impossibly small, turning against one another and moving in concert. She could hear a metal spring and small latches, she could hear the vibrations of a crystal and its subtle warmth and ‘glow’ of energy. The shift of the hands when a minute passed and the constant, precise tick, tick, tick of each second. Like a heartbeat most perfect.
Sona must have stood there holding it like that for at least five minutes, eyes closed and her brows curved in emotional reverie. She could barely contain her joy. It wasn’t quite music, but there was something in its inorganic nature that captured her as something ‘new’. It was like a song that only required just a little bit more to become something palatable to a wider audience. This was a fine thing. Something only someone like her could appreciate. Like fancy gourmet food. Like lobster. Lobster was terrible on its own, she felt, yet she knew someone liked it.
Anyway.
When her eyes finally opened again Sona couldn’t help herself from throwing her arm around the man in deep appreciation. Only one arm, as her other hand carefully clutched the watch between them and held it against her heart. This was truly one of the best gifts anyone could have ever given her.
