LILA, EUGENE

One of the Pacific Northwest's most prolific artists Bayne Gardner's work is widely recognized around the Eugene / Springfield area—both his solo public and private murals and his many community projects collaborating with area children.... In 2001 a group of residents with disabilities began discussing formation of a Lane County "Center for Independent Living" and in the years since the resulting Lane Independent Living Alliance (LILA) has become an important advocate and service provider. In 2018 Gardner painted two new walls for the @20x21EUG project, bringing his nature inspired work and "lively and spontaneous energy" to the outside of LILA, at Willamette St and 13th Ave.  @baynegardner/

"FALLING SKY TIGER EYES"

Intrigued by graffiti from a very young age, Bayne Gardner told @TheChronicle1909 he painted his first large-scale commission—unpaid—for his father's workspace, at age 11. Today Gardner is one of the most prolific muralists in the Eugene / Springfield area where he's constantly "seeking out the projects that give him as much artistic freedom as possible, because they are the most fun," and he says, usually give the client the best result. "I love nature" Gardner says and in 2018 Gardner, and his friend Justin ( @541CloudCity ), applied the influence of the outdoors to this Oak Alley wall for Eugene's @FallingSkyBrew. Opened in 2012 Falling Sky was the brainchild of a brewer and a New York restaurateur, and the following year @EugeneWeekly awarded the fledgling startup Best New Business, Best New Brewpub, and Best Burger.  @baynegardner/

"SUMMER CAMP, 2015"

"Of anyone in town," says the Eugene @RegisterGuard , "Gardner may have the most outdoor art pieces". . . . "'It's just what I like to do,' Gardner said. 'If I wasn't doing this, I'd just be painting for myself.'" Giving up his job as an electrician six years ago Bayne Gardner has been painting full-time since, including more than 40 indoor and outdoor murals. Gardner also enjoys working with the area's youth, however, and every summer you're likely to find him on Emerald Park Dr in Eugene, working with the latest summer camp class. Now, several years after he worked with the kids to create this 2015 mural, the walls of the River Road Park recreation complex in Emerald Park have become an inspiring gallery of brilliantly conceived Gardner designs onto which the children's unique expressions have been incorporated.  @baynegardner/
