Hellooo,

I’m popping by again bc your DMC art is (still) stuck in my brain. Your street rats AU.... absolutely heartbreaking, especially what happens to Dante.  I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces while reading it. I actually saw your tags when you reposted one of my posts a while ago (I think you mentioned that one of your WIPs- which I suspect at the time was this AU- had direct parallels to VoV). 

(I think the parallel is between the VoV scene where V sees a reflection of Dante and is mulling over why the two are different despite being twins, and in your AU, Dante thinks he and Vergil are twins, so they should be the same.. I might be wrong, lol) 

I’m going to be honest- when I saw that tag, I was filled with so MUCH dread (ha). It made me afraid bc VoV itself is a whole other experience, plus your art can really pack an emotional punch. It seemed like a deadly combo, and I was very right. 

Basically, thank you for gifting us DMC fans with heartbreak lol. 

(Please keep it up- please keep breaking our hearts, ha) 

On a completely different note, I keep saying this, but the baby devil trigger forms.. they are sooo good- they’re still possessing my brain.. This is about to be very random, but please bear with me. 

When my dad was younger, his family lived in the countryside, and he told me that during the summer, he would go down to the river with his younger brothers to play. And by play, I mean catching frogs and then running around chasing each other while holding them (then letting them go at the end). For some reason, I have this mental image of Dante (in baby devil trigger form) holding a giant frog and running after Vergil, who's trying to get as far away from Dante and the frog.  Basically, I have this silly image of Dante being a menace to Vergil, but when I think of the two, they’re in your designs. 

Alsoooooo (this is long, sorry)- your DMC Sparda family designs/sketches??? I love how you distinguish all of them from each other. Sparda’s human form looks very cool- it’s very nice that you broke down what makes everyone similar or different from each other. I especially think it’s very cool how you made V look very similar to Eva (which is also my headcanon- that bc he’s the human part of Vergil, he would have a lot of her features). 

Long story short, love what you’ve been doing so far, and I’m looking forward to whatever you draw next. Hope you have a good day/night wherever you are.

Im so glad you caught onto that tag! You're 100% right, that was how the stories paralleled each other and the dread was fully intentional.

In VoV, its clear that little Vergil craved more individuality from Dante, which made me think that Dante would define himself by "being Vergil's twin" more (at least as children). Theoredically if the twins got to grow up together/normaly, i think the high expectations put on Vergil + Dante trying and failing to match up to his twin could lead to that more apathetic vibe Dante's got as he grew. In the street rats AU specifically, their bond would probably be more codependent and survival based though. Sorry, you got me spiraling now.

I'm really enjoying your VoV discussions, my friend introduced me to dmc + VoV, and we both agree it's one of our top 5 manga now.
