Sometimes, when we love doing something very much, it can be extremely hard to realize when we need to cut it out of our lives. This is a lesson that became very clear to me today when an aquatince/old friend was really frazzled by her situation.
She has done basketball her whole life and has always defined herself as a b-baller, but recently the team dynamic changed. They started making fun of her, and taking any sense of a job well done, or achievement from her. Even her coach joined in to say how pathetic she was. I think it probably took her a while to get to this point, but now she can see that it's not worth it.
What it comes down to is this: The things we love often blind us from the things that are hurting us. While this can be a good thing, occasionally we need to take the blinders off to see if it's really worth the pain.
