Please tweet @BBCouch and tell them to add CC to their videos
In a hilarious (and irritating) display of irony, BBCouch uploaded this article about youtube vloggers with disabilities, one of whom is rikkipoynter, who is hard of hearing and a very strong advocate for accessibility via closed captioning on internet videos, and didn't provide captioning for any of those videos, not even Rikki's!
They mention her advocating for captioning and didn't include captioning. Her original video on YouTube has captions she uploaded herself, but they rehosted her video on their own site's video player - and didn't include captions, or even a transcript.
Rikki mentioned this in a facebook post, asking for others to please email and/or tweet BBCouch and make them aware of their error, so that's exactly what I've been doing over on my twitter account @CaptionsForAll, and now I'm making this post to try and spread the word.
BBCouch has good intentions, and this honestly just seems like an oversight, but it's a GLARING one, and is a prime example of how even those who get it can still mess up.
Edit: A link to their facebook page is included in the article - feel free to comment over there, as well!
