30_11_2024- As snug as a bug in a rug

Encounters for the BCC (Bug Catching Contest) Went over 6k, and I feared it would be another day without any shinies.

Then, at 5796 encounters over 6 devices, I found a shiny caterpie on my soul silver copy- I was too excited to nickname him.

I continued hunting since I still had a couple of hours left in the evening, and didn’t expect to find another so quicky- Beeb the Weedle, in Pokemon Crystal, and in only 6206 total encounters!!

At that point it was almost 9pm, which isn’t super late for my hunts, but decided to pause while I was ahead (so now I’m writing this)

28_11_2024- A dull day for bugs

By the afternoon I took to the Bug Catching Contest again, and only had to change the date on my laptop to magically make it Thursday again. Before, I considered my 'target' to be scyther, mostly because it's one of my favourite designs out of the available bugs. But now, my target is actually wimple. Not because of how common it is, but because wimple was actually my first ever shiny. When I was about 7-8 years old, I played through a gamesharked run of Pokemon Ruby. I didn't change the shiny odds, but I did give myself masterballs before the first trainer battle. That's when I encountered a shiny wimple, caught it in a hacked masterball, and carried it in my party. It evolved into a Beautifly, and even though it was my weakest Mon, I kept it in my team just because it was shiny.

But that was many, many years ago, and now I want her back. Granted, I don't think I have much control over what wurmple evolves into, so they might stay as their current form. If I get one, that is.

Paused at a total of 2514 encounters this afternoon.

27_11_2024- Early birthday surprise

Last night I heard about a shiny event happening right now, specifically for catching shinies during the bug catching event in the Johto games. It’s a great idea, and actually made me pause my own Gamecor we shiny quest. I love community events like this, and I’m honestly tempted to make a blue sky account for other shiny events.

Also for reasons, I’m standing up with my controller. It’s a bit tiring honestly.

I don’t specifically have a target right now, maybe beedrill or scyther? But I’m mostly passing the time until about 1:30pm, as my friend says they have a surprise for me in town at 2pm. Decided to pause at 400 encounters.

Turns out the surprise was an early birthday party set up by my friends because they’re all scheduled to work on my birthday, and it was an amazing time!! My friends bought me the perfect pokemon cake, and also a new phone case with a card slot so I’m not (hopefully) losing my cards all the time. We played two games of bowling cause we’ve been talking about doing something like that for ages. The scoreboards messed up our perfectly curated names, but they were still fun. Also I won the first round, and absolutely FLOPPED on the second. It was honestly an achievement to lose so bad, and that’s not just me coping.

We got home later in the evening, about 8pm, and I was able to get more encounters for Bug Catching Week done before heading to bed. Now I’m up to 714 encounters, and I’m hoping to crack open my heartgold game as well
