Listen, he will get tied down to almost anyone. He will just almost immediately realize that he dislikes it and just continue his antics and probably be forced to be more active at home as his coronation can now be held whenever his parents die or decide to step down.
Seriously though, friendship is absolutely possible. He would definitely still be trying to trick her into marring him but it would also include just random visits where he pretends like he has a reason for being there other than just wanting to see her and make sure she is okay.
