the disgust was evident in her expression once her eldest brother had his arms wrapped along her, the talk of how sorry he was for leaving her behind once more when she depended on him the most throughout the entire ordeal to begin with. the way he would drop the entire family to run off to seattle to get his life settled in the law firm that he had applied for. she would once again, have to take care of the entire slack without so much of a help from her youngest sister - she wouldn’t dare to put that type of burden upon her. it has been years yet it felt like it were yesterday when she had just turned eighteen that he was able to leave them upon the doorsteps of their family home to take care of himself and his life. the attempt was even futile and she had known this for weeks before even attempting to come see him to ask for money to merely help with the store - something that is left behind by their father and that she would wish to keep going in his honor.
“don’t - you haven’t even understand the burden you left on me. you knew that i wouldn’t let our sister feel it, but you could have helped me this one time.” the look she took in from him spoke for itself instead of him having to spit it out. i do not owe you anything. she didn’t leave much a choice for him to speak as she was out of the law firm with him moving on her tail. just to lose him at the elevator as an simple glare was all he needed - to back off and leave her be, he was tired of attempting to fix what he meant to say in retrospect.
the pouring rain and thunderstorm outside the law firm was not something she needed right now as she made her way through the street quickly. the nearest coffee shop was almost close - just about five minutes away as she finally scurred upon the awing that the coffee shop offers as she let out an sharp huff of air in response. her arm moved to wipe off the tears upon her cheeks along with the droplets of rain as she felt somewhat soaked as she was oblivious to the surroundings in this moment. she was too wrapped up until an familiar voice caught her by surprise in causing her to turn and simply stare in that moment. “mia... i.. just got caught in the rain - what are you doing here?” she let out an sudden small laugh to cover up her previous state - forgetting the mascara that ran along right cheek and was swiped to make an slight black streak along her upper cheek.
