Countryside Born & Raised || Theo & Diablo

At first, Diablo didn’t know what the thing was. He only saw a furry creature sort of dragging itself up a road in the countryside, and as curious a bird as he was, he had to head down there and take a closer look. As the black bird approached, he began to realize that it wasn’t some abandoned dog, and in fact something entirely different.

The hamster-like furball had bat-like ears and a spotted pattern decorating its fur. It also, for some reason, made Diablo want to take it under his wing. He flied closer and did his best to pick up the furry creature with his claws, with the intention of, you know, not hurting it, and immediately headed for the nearest shelter he could find: A particularly familiar barn.

Once inside, the bird turned into a man, and he did his best to hold the furry creature in his arms. He looked down at it and rocked it slightly, not able to help smiling at the creature’s eyes. They were simply the cutest!

Sugar, Spice, and Everything Cuckoo -Anville-

They had always said that you could tell a lot about a person from their garbage. The RAS had taught him that that saying wasn’t just a bunch of bullshit. Not to say he went digging through the University’s garbage, but sometimes people put some weird stuff in the waste bins thinking no one would ever see it again. 

Nothing could compare to this one though.

Orville had been making the rounds, pushing around the larger trash can to dump the smaller ones in to where he would eventually take everything to the even larger ones in the back of this building. He was pulling off the lid off one in the hall, and had begun removing the bag from the edges. Orville flinched back when he heard a disgruntled noise and movement from beneath the initial layer of rubbish. He looked up at the ceiling to send a quick request that it please not be a rat. 

He looked back down when the noises turned into a distinct panicked chirping. Cursing under his breath he stepped forwards and reached down to part the ways of the trash to reveal a...well honestly he didn’t know what the hell he was looking at, but it was looking back up at him. Cautiously he reached for it, brushing his gloved finger over its head, it leaned into his touch and chirped in a happier tone. He pulled it from the garbage and smiled, suddenly not caring about anything really. Except the little thing he moved to cradle in his arms. 

Turning, trying to think of what he had on him to wrap the babe in, he looked up and saw a young woman. He didn’t know her. That didn’t matter. He stepped on over into her path.

“Where do you think you’re going?” he asked, glancing from the thing in the crook of his elbow up to her. “Our kid’ll catch their death like this, won’t they?”
