The damp dark clouds were threatening rain as Y/N ran up the steps with the take out food tucked safely in your arms. The frost had bitten your nose and ears, turning them a numb, bright pink mess. You couldn't wait to get inside the apartment and lounge about in your pajamas, forgetting how miserable Christmas made you feel.

While everyone else was happily preparing to spend Christmas with friends and family, loved ones and lovers, you spent the day alone eating a sorry excuse for a dinner. Well, usually you did but not this year. This year, your neighbours - the MacManus twins - had decided that you were going to hang out with them. They'd only been in Boston a few months and didn't want to be alone (impossible as they were never without the other) and demanded your company. Their cheeriness was infectious and you smiled to yourself, shaking your head.

You paused outside of your apartment and frowned. You could hear loud Christmas music coming from inside. You knew you hadn't left the TV on or the radio when you had gone down the street to collect your Chinese food. You pulled the switchblade from your pocket and eased the door open before sighing loudly. You stomped into your kitchen and deposited the bag on the counter as Murphy's giggle sounded loudly from the living room. Shaking your head once more you entered the room to see Connor battling with a string of tinsel and losing.

"What are you two doing?"

The pair froze and looked at you. The half decorated tree caught your eye and you raised your eyebrow at the twins. Murphy smiled like a cheeky imp and opened his arms wide.

"We're decoratin'!"

"I can see that. But why?"

"'Cause lass." Connor began, fighting to free himself from the tinsel once more and standing up. "Ye didn't have no tree and it ain't Christmas withou' a tree!"

"Oh god. You've been infected! That damn Christmas spirit won't take me!" You laugh pointing at Connor and backing away slowly, with a horrified look on your face, but you were touched by their thoughtful actions. You'd never once had a tree since you moved to Boston all those years ago. You just didn't see the point. All that effort to only been seen by you. It's not like you hated the idea but it reminded you that the presents under it were from yourself and you were alone. Not from friends or your family, who had seemingly forgotten your existence.

"Come on beautiful! Smile! It's Christmas!" Murphy called out, happily throwing more tinsel on the tree.

"You will be the death of me I swear Murphy." You said sadly, turning back to the kitchen to plate up your dinner.

After you'd eaten, you walked back into your living room and smiled. The twins were like little kids and you'd hate to admit it but their excitement was rubbing off on you a tiny bit. You flopped down beside the pair and stole Connor's beer.

"Ye witch! That's mine!"

"Be quiet MacManus. You've broken in here, made a mess with shiny horrid tinsel and pine needles and you stole my beer. So if anyone is a thief - it's you!" You laugh as he pouts, Murphy glancing between the two of you with a spark of envy in his eyes.

It had been his idea to decorate your place. Not his best, maybe, but he wanted to see you smile and laugh for once. He knew the festive season always left a bitter taste in your mouth after so many years alone. He also wanted to have you look at him the way you looked towards his brother. The look of attraction in your eyes was clear to him. But he knew he'd never be the one you wanted.

Or so he thought.

The night wore on slowly as you laughed at the twins' latest escapades, their infectious excitement and antics bringing a smile to your face. They had even roped you into making some colorful paper ring chains. The sun went down and you three had still not moved from your spots on the sofa to turn the lights on. The only light source being your flicking TV screen.

"LET'S BINGE CHRISTMAS MOVIES!" Connor suddenly yelled, making you jump into Murphy's lap in fright. You blushed and buried your head in your hands groaning.

"God no." You hated Christmas movies. They were all the same more or less - Some pretty young woman finds romance with the shy, baker or local single dad after being in a new town with snow all around. Every Christmas movie you'd ever seen always had a tree picking moment or a sleigh moment. Or some other cliche. No thank you.

"Fuck it. Let's just get shit faced drunk!"

In the end you comprised and let Connor put the movie on while you grabbed the whiskey. Some soppy excuse for romance played out on the screen as Connor sat like a child crossed legged on the floor, popcorn and beer surrounding the 27 year old.

You stifled a laugh at him. You'd think he was a 7 year old sometimes with his behaviour.

You froze as you felt Murphy's arm wrap around your shoulders and pull you closer to him, his fingers sending tingles down your arm as they ran softly over the exposed skin of your shoulder. You took a big gulp of whiskey and choked, his hand patting you gently on the back as you leaned forward.

"Ye okay?"

"Shhhh!" Connor hissed, eyes never leaving the screen as the female lead fell into a snow drift. You nodded and settled back into your seat, your arm brushing against Murphy. His warm side burned through his shirt into your skin and you felt yourself getting warmer.

If only he noticed how you looked at him. If you only had the fucking balls to tell him.

Murphy chewed on his lip as his fingers danced across the tender sensitive skin on the back of your neck, making you shudder with a sigh. Your eyes sought his out in the near darkness, and held his, they pair of you barely breathing. His other hand found your thigh and ran his fingertip upwards, pausing just short of your core.

"Murph... Stop bein' a fuckin' pussy and kiss da lass already." Connor laughed, still facing the movie and taking a gulp of beer. "Or I will."

Connor gave a snort as Murphy caught the belt and frowned. "Didn't take you for the love 'em and leave' em type. Must of been in quite the hurry to forget your belt."

"Erm..." Murphy stuttered, his cheeks bright red. You paled and glared at your sister as she pulled Connor down the lane towards the town. Murphy quickly stuffed the belt into his bag and waited for you to start walking.

You trailed behind your sister and Connor, keeping your eyes downwards as the pair began shamelessly flirting and kissing and generally being all lovey dovey. You felt your anger rising towards your sister as well as a flare of jealousy. Murphy bit his lip and glanced at the older siblings in front of him before making up his mind.

You were stressed out and panicking. 

After your sister's outburst the other day in the woods, Murphy had been avoiding you somewhat. It seemed her threat had made him back off. It rattled you to the core that maybe she was right. Maybe Murphy was an asshole. 

You sighed and flopped down on your bed and groaned. 

The weekend was dragging like crazy, as had the week at school watching her and Connor suck face while you'd glance  towards Murphy hoping to catch his eye but he was always looking away.  

You felt so alone.

Your father's loud and slightly angry voice called from the hall. You groaned again and padded out of your room and leaned over the bannister rail. Smirking brightly, the elder MacManus twin nudged his brother, glancing you up and down. An act your father and sister thankfully missed. Your father sighed at you as your eyes flickered to Murphy, whose eyes were focused on your chest as you folded your arms. You blushed under his glare and turned to your father. 

"Go get dressed." He growled. 

"Why daddy?" 

"This gentleman wants t' take ye sister t' the cinemas" He gestured towards Connor, "however, as she is still grounded fer dat ridiculous party," your sister lowered her head in mock shame, barely able to hide her smirk. "You are going t' go wit' her. You will stick t' yer sister like glue. Yer both must be together when yer come home."

"Oh..." you reply, feeling eyes run over you once more. You glanced at Murphy, but his eyes were firmly fixed on his shoes, your head turned slightly to Connor, who licked his lips as his eyes ran down you. "Erm... I... I.... I better get dressed then."

"Go. I need t' talk t' these boys and set some firm ground rules." Your dad all but growled, which made Connor and Murphy flinch. 

You ran to your room, your sister quickly following and closing your door quietly behind you. You sighed and grabbed some clothes out of your closet, which your sister threw to the floor. 

"I need you to distract Murphy tonight." She whispered, pulling clothes out your closet and pushing them into your arms. 

"Sara... Thought you said he wasn't good enough for me and has to keep his hands off your baby sister? Huh?" Your replied, your voice muffled as you dressed. 

"Look... I'm sorry. I was kinda jealous... And it is my job as big sister to try and protect you. I'm sorry." She wrapped her arms around you and rested her head against yours softly. "Besides.... I do owe you one. For not squealing on me about the whole barn thing."

"Get off me woman! Fine... I'll try. Though I doubt it'll do any good.... He took ya warning pretty seriously." You sighed, as your sister slumped more of her weight into you. You shove her off and start putting a little make up on. Just enough to highlight y/e/c eyes but still look natural. She smiled and took it from you and quickly applied just the right amount. You glance in your mirror and smiled. 

Your sister should be a make up artist you mussed, she'd added more than you usually wore but she had brought out your features perfectly.  

You actually felt pretty for once. 

She grabbed your hand after you finished getting dressed and pulled you downstairs to the lounge where the MacManus boys sat quietly on one sofa as your dad glared at them from the armchair. He rose and gave you both a hug and shooed you all out of the house with a quiet warning to the twins to have you both home by 11pm.

Your sister laughed as Connor's hand once more left the stirring wheel to run along her thigh. You rolled your eyes as Murphy scowled at his brother. 

"Keep ye fuckin' eyes on the road man!" He growled and crossed his arms over his broad chest. You ducked your head and bit your lip, eyes raking down his shirt which strained tightly against his chest. The buttons seemingly ready to pop open at the slightest expansion of his breathing. Murphy gave you a nudge and flicked his hand towards you, a simple, white folded piece of paper between his fingers. You crossed your eyebrows in confusion as he nodded to his hand again. You gently slipped your hand across the seats and took it from him and lay it in your lap.  You gave him another look and he nodded at the note, twirling a pencil in his fingers absentmindly. 

You unfolded the note and gave Murphy a quick glance to catch his eye but he was looking out the window.

Murphy smirked at you as his eyes scanned the note. He shifted his body slightly as the car rounded a corner, using the turn as an excuse to get closer to you. You smirked at her and glanced back at Murphy as his other hand cupped your cheek softly. 

He leaned in and brushed your lips with his, not noticing his brother glancing at you in the mirror as well.  

Murphy's tongue flicked at your bottom lip for access, which you granted and gave a little moan as he ran his tongue around yours. His hand gripping your hip gently and sliding under your shirt to run his thumb across your hip bone. His grip tightening as you kissed him deeply. You parted breathlessly, his forehead resting against yours.

"Fuck!" Connor yelled as the car swerved to the right wildly before he regained control of the car. Murphy being pushed across the seat to land with his face in your lap.
