Dreaming of Kin
Featuring Tiona McClodden
Curated by Ladi’Sasha Jones
On View: February 6 – April 10, 2016
Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts
Dreaming of Kin features Be Alarmed: The Black Americana Epic, Movement I – The Visions. The first of a four-part body of work by visual artist and filmmaker Tiona McClodden, this project charts the artist’s personal, familial, and spiritual biography. McClodden deconstructs the epic film genre through nonlinear film trailers, scenes, photographic ephemera, and sculptural objects that envelop the viewer in a constellation of coded heirlooms that reimagine the Black american family tale.
Gonna do some changes for my theme rn. It looks awful
I want to say a few words directly to my followers.
I have nearly 500 followers, and although I do not know all of you I know that each of you has a heart. Each of you has the chance to take even a moment and observe the issues that are going on in Ferguson, MO.
I know I have been reblogging a lot of these events, which is something you rarely see from me. I only ever reblog media about issues I am truly concerned about and believe I can help out in.
With media all across the internet getting censored and the general media is not being reported, I believe it is the job of every American citizen to take a stand again the police brutality going on in Ferguson.
You should be concerned. You should be frightened.
And more than anything you shouldn't be concerned over "white guilt" or anything like that. It is not your job to shoulder that, in this case it is your job to turn your eyes to the people, instead of turning this issue into something about you.
Please take a moment to respond in some way.
pardon me as i clean out my bookmarks from the past month and likes from the past 6-7 decades
