You're a valkyrie!!!! Why is the spear your favorite weapon?

I like the duality of the weapon and the reach. I can use both the blade and the staff portion of it in combat which is appealing to me. Plus I dig penetrating injuries, they're way more brutal than slashing ones. Plus it's way easier to jab and target vital organs from a safer distance with a spear than say, a sword purely because of the reach of the weapon.
