Something wicked this way comes.
Or at least that is what everyone likes to say. Even now, in the scorching heat of the desert Locke could feel it. Knives slicing through her skin, the eyes of the desert glaring down upon him like the sun rays above. Something watched in the distance, ever presence, focused and lingering. Silence and faded into the heat haze, shimmering in the distance as heat swirled and raised waving and blurring together. It distorted her vision and she knew between the heat above and the sands below; it would stay like this the rest of the day.
Yet something drew her closer, calling to her. A deep siren's song singing to her, whispering out for help. Deep within the sands. Locke pulled out a canister to drink the water, urging the creature forward. Massive horns curved up and over, acting like a pair of handles. Long thick fur hang down though instead of making it too hot for the goat, it worked like a sheet to block the sand from getting underneath its coat. Thick ears flicked forward, and hooves stepped into the sand but didn't sink. "Dude, I envy you. Probably have a hump of water right here," Locke tapped the hump.
The goat shook her head, a little bleep sound out of her mouth and Locke nodded. "That's right, you can say that again. Once I find this thing… whatever it is, we'll get back and your going to get the biggest treat I can get you for bringing me out here. You deserve it darling," Locke reached up, ruffling the goat between the horns as a few more bleeps came from its mouth. Locke closed her eyes, focusing on the draw of the power that whispered even louder.
It had been over an hour now, and something hummed. Without a thought, Locke tugged the goat to a stop and stepped down.
Come to me. That whisper, now louder. Words more defined, singing into her ears. Locke's steps followed an invisible path as she squinted her eyes. "Who… are you?" Locke questioned, not sure if the voice heard. I am. I was. I see. Locke's brow furled, as it did not fully clarify but the broken words made it seem like whatever this was might be lost to time or something more. "Then…perhaps…. What are you?" She gave a different question as the whispering song rose. Devour-er. Death. Passage. One to another. Guardian. Demon. One of the same.
Demon. Yet, Locke wondered what a demon would be doing out here, along, whispering to someone who had come from the trees of Demacia. No, a demon would travel, not lure this far away. If she was truly a demon, there was something more to it, misunderstood, confused. "What… am I to you?" Locke spoke, as the voice grew louder.
Old relics stood in the sands, slowly sinking as the world was being devoured inch by inch. Pillars from the past eroding away from sandstorms and the heat of the sun. Old temples that were cracked and broken, barely able to hold anything. Ancient looking disc pointed toward the sun itself as Locke touched one. Bonded. Companion. Us. Us. US! The voice grew loud as Locke stepped back and covered her ears at the sudden shout.
One with us. Protector. Guardian. Demon. Devour-er.
Locke might not understand what she fully meant, but the voice clearly wanted Locke to help break them free, and Locke wanted to understand why. At the same time, her markings started to burn slightly; but not in a way like before when her mother slashed into them.
Now, it was like a soft burning as she had applied salves to them. Medicine of cooling warmth as they healed. She glanced down, noticing the soft glow of blue and brushed over them. As she stepped down carefully into the broken temple, she moved along and tried not to disturb anything. However, her eyes fell upon a massive pile of bones, falling all over the area. It was the skull that intrigued her.
There. Me. Us. We. we are one. Half bonded. Bond. Be one. Free us!
A knot twisted in her throat, as Locke found herself unsure of the path to take. She stepped around the skull. Its face had what looked like a shift around its face, sharply descended downwards into a snout extending forward. Small holes scattered along the top of the skull as Locke moved her hand over top of it. Enemy. Golden light betrayer. Do not trust the light nor the dark. trust truth.
Locke grinned, unable to help herself. "Now that, Lady, is something I love to hear. Its not about light or dark, demons or spirits. The one thing that matters in this damn twisted fucked up world. is Truth. And mortals seem to know how to lie the easiest. At least a demon is honest about what they want," Locke whispered and took a breath. It was a dangerous option, but this artifact could be of use, and something about it felt….. like home. Familiar, as if she was meant to be with it. So her hand wrapped around the crocodilian like skull.
However, before she realized it, something snapped around the top of her jacket and ripped her backwards. Locke held on to dear life to the skull, as several parts of the temple started to crash down. "FUCK!" Lock shouted, but before she had a chance to get up, whatever had her jacket was already pulling her up and out of the temple, as more rocks started to fall, and the temple was collapsing. Taking the skull must have done something. Perhaps this 'light bringer, or Golden light betrayer, had done something. Either way, the skull was safely in her hands and now Locke had to deal with the horrid sun all over again.
"Ugh, the damn sun, Thank you, fo----" Locke started, as she turned around, but instead of seeing anyone of note she stared at a set of bright red legs, fur coated along a set of paws. And her head slowly moved upward until she came face to face with the face of a massive dunehound, knives sprouting around her neck and teeth that could rip her throat to shred.
"Well…. Sparkles, I might be seeing you soon," Locke whispered to herself as she moved to stood up. "Let me make one note," Locke started as she dusted herself off, still holding the skull protectively in her arm. "I am chewy, lanky, and boney. i do not taste great going down, and I'm a tough fight, but i will fight! However, I get the inkling, there's more to this rescue then dinner. So, Pretty Pup, Why have you been following me?" Locke grinned, shifting her glasses and placing a hand on her hip.
If she was going to die, least she could do it in style.
