Apologies in advance for all the angst in this one. It is very Hurt/No comfort, so below the cut because of that.

character bingo, obviously Forte and Vishnal lmao
Mind you, I'm not very far in Rune Factory 4, so I kept from a few of these topics, as I really am not sure where these characters stand.
Forte is soooo cool! The moment I saw her, I was smitten. She's terrifying and gorgeous all at once. I really love characters that have a strong sense of duty and need to be reminded to take care of themselves. She's a protective older sister, and I want to be that for my own. <3 I love bringing her along on my adventures, as I feel like she genuinely enjoys it rather than it simply being her duty.
Bonus Chibi!
Okay, so they start up the game and my character awakes to this ball of sunshine! I love Vishnal's design - all the butlers have really cool uniforms, and Vishnal's innocent expressions are too sweet. I kinda had a hard time finding a lot of fan art of him, but maybe I checked the "done dirty by fans” too quickly. I just don't see him featured in a lot of things. There might be a reason for that I'm not aware of yet, so I'm keeping my mind open. I have heard that his story isn't deeper than others, which leaves me a little disappointed.
Vishnal is a people pleaser, and he is always trying to better himself, even if he's clumsy sometimes. I can definitely relate - I want to make other people happy (to a fault), and even if I don't always succeed, I know I tried my best. It's something I'm trying to work on, so it makes him relatable to me.
Bonus Chibi!
Thanks for the ask! I had a lot of fun with these two! ^-^
Character Opinion Bingo!
(I could google it for a more comprehensive answer but lazy lol)
As I understand it, Britpicking in fic is having a british person go through a fic written by a non-brit that is set in Britain so check for inaccuracies. It's a beta-reading role for people who want to have a culturally or regionally accurate fics. Reduces the amount of annoyed Brit readers who quit a fic when the Brit characters do something egregiously American 😂
Ah, so it would be for fics such as Doctor Who and Sherlock? That makes sense, thank you (and is also significantly better than I was worried it would be 😅)
... Hmmm, now I feel like there needs to a version of this for USAmerican English (since I'm constantly worried I'm using British idioms in my writing that my non British readers would find weird 😅 I've had to train myself out of using terms like 'jumper', 'trainers' and 'duvet', for example... )
Fic writer asks!
🎀 🌿 💞
fic writer asks @beck-a-leck
🎀give yourself a compliment about your own writing
i'm really good at characterizing. as in, making a character "feel real". like they are a person and not just a character with a handful of catch phrases. however, i think a lot of that comes from my history of being a roleplayer before a dedicated writer. since that can be a lot like method acting in a way. i really get into a character's head to figure them out. so when i write, it feels authentic and believable. there's real feeling behind everything they do and think.
🌿how does creating make you feel?
i have a bit of an odd relationship with creating things. whether its drawing or writing. some people have that sense of accomplishment, in the sense that they strive to finish something and have it be good. i do too. however, that's compounded on top of this NEED to create. if i'm not drawing or writing every few days or so, i feel bad. like something gets so pent up and the only way to let it out is to create something. like my skin will itch with it until i spent at least an hour doing something. i have a ton of unfinished things for this reason. none of them would i ever post. since its literally just there to get that creative flow running free instead of building up over time.
💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language
not to sound like a kitchen sink but, a mix of everything, honestly. now don't get me wrong, i'm not out looking for strictly magnum opus levels of good stories. i'm perfectly happy with more basic or "mediocre" stories. and even "bad" stories if there's enough of a balance. like, for example. i'll read a fic where the characters are totally ooc. i'm aware they're ooc, but all the other elements make up for it enough to suspend my disbelief enough to keep reading. or the ooc aspect is so intriguing it causes me to want to know more. my only real deal breaker is not using at least some basic grammar and spelling. if i can't tell what the hell is going on becuse there's no clear indication of who's talking, who's narrating, and things like that, then i will usually pass on it.
Fic Writer Asks!
💎💥 💌
Thank you for the asks 💕
💎why is writing important to you?
Writing is an outlet. It helps me to work through my own issues, see the world in new perspectives, and consider the world from new points of view. It encourages me to expand my knowledge via research for fics, but I think the biggest thing it does for me is help me to empathise with others by stepping into their shoes when I write their characters. Sure, its all fictional. But there are still lessons that can be carried over to real-world people and groups. I really feel like I'm seeing the world through someone else's eyes when I'm writing their POV; even more so than when reading, because you have to get into their headspace to write a character believably.
💥find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it.
OK, it's a tie between The April Drabbles collection (that I still have to finish, woops!) and Ellen's Day Out. I think I'll go for the latter.
I love the characterisation in EDO - I feel like all the characters feel very true to their ingame selves. And even though it may not be a very popular one shot - perhaps because it's got very minimal shipping? - I'm still incredibly pleased with how it came out.
💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!
I'm currently working on an Undertale Multiverse fic focused on Dream, and I'm really excited to explore his inner thoughts and motivations. There's a lot of fics focusing on his dark brother, Nightmare, and I can understand why: it's interesting to delve into the psyche of the bad guy and explore the trauma and conflict within. But being the stereotypical 'good guy', Dream doesn't seem to get the same level of interest and exploration. Getting the chance to delve into that and explore who Dream is, both on the surface and deep down, has me very excited.
Thank you for the asks 🤗
Okay but I wanna know about Ellie X Karen and Trent Carter 👀👀👀👀
Thank you so much for the asks! ^-^ Elli x Karen is a fic that never really took off, but I think if I actually wrote it, I could make something of it. Back in 2019, my bestie and I were naming different characters that might be interesting together and Elli and Karen came up and I thought "Oooh!"
So, you ever have a line come to you and it's the cornerstone of your fic? My brain went into the classic "kisses tasting like random flavors" thing for some reason. But I kinda did it literally and metaphorically?
"Her lips and tongue tasted like wild grapes and fireworks."
I mean, it's probably still bad and embarrassing, but I still like it. I'd like to do something with it eventually, because I rarely dabble in first person narration, and I think it can be fun.
Literally the whole rough fic below (all two paragraphs, lol).
Doing a second post for Trent Carter because it's a whole thing, lol.
Farm Sim asks! How about tomato 🍅 and carrot 🥕
Thank you for the ask ❤️
🍅 (Tomato) - Favourite and least favourite festival?
Out of all the Animal Festivals, my favourite are the Horse Races from FoMT. I'm a sucker for horses anyway, but I also love how it adds a different mechanic to the competition, and that the higher your friendship with your horse, the easier it is to win.
I find the Fishing Festivals can be a bit hit or miss, for me. Especially if you have to save beforehand and keep reloading until you get a win. Luck based festivals aren't as much fun as skill based ones, to me at least.
🥕(Carrot) - Do you prefer having a protagonist with a fixed design - eg. Pete, Claire etc - or a customisable protagonist?
I like how iconic the fixed design farmers are, but I really enjoy customising my own.
I always like to choose a design with very long hair, if it's an option, so the lineup in ToT/AP makes me a bit sad. Being able to make myself in game is a feature I adore.
THAT Scene fanfic game!
How about "The Shy Newcomer"
If someone has already asked about that one tho, what about "Holiday Blues"
Thank you for your patience on this! Ohmigosh, I just realized I might have answered your other ask wrong. Maybe that was the game where I revealed secrets!
All the secrets I can think of right now are pretty spoiler-y. Here's a super vague one, hehe:
One of the initial ships I had planned for a couple years got scrapped in favor of one with better chemistry. I really think these two are going to be so fun together, and I can't wait for the readers to get to know the characters better. <3
So let's get into "Holiday Blues" - again, thank you so much for your patience with this!
When I wrote Holiday Blues, I knew I wanted to have that big climax with pressure turned on to the extreme while Anna is trying to maintain her composure. I think Anna is a very fascinating character, and I believe that she puts appearances, grace, and conducting herself in a manner she believes is ideal for a lady of good status above all else in life.
I don't think Anna is a bad person despite her flaws, and I wanted to show that in this fic. The things she feels confident in - her table spread, her dishes, her good hostess skills all tumble down one by one as the storm outside continues to brew. She feels trapped in her own house. She feels ridiculed and challenged and even belittled - she takes Gray's gelatin offering as a direct attack on her, implying she is unable to provide for them all by herself.
But even when stressed out and dissociating, she still complies to that "proper lady" ideal she has cemented in her brain. Her meltdown doesn't look like much to most of the other people at the table. Anna internalizes things. She cares an awful lot about what other people think about her, and in her panic, she skews the way they truly see her. She uses these warped opinions as tools to measure her own worth - something that's really unhealthy, but unfortunately, relatable to a lot of people.
I honestly wasn't sure where the story was going at that point of writing Anna's meltdown, but Mary's gentle kindness came to mind, and I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
Thank you so much for the ask, and thank you again for the prompt for the story! ^-^
