Lysandre's taste is fine. He likes intelligence, honesty, painter's hands, and hair long enough for him to braid. Those with kindly family values appeal, as he was born into a large family and he rather likes the idea of one that functions.

His taste is not the problem. His inclination to idolism, obsession, and deepset hatred for anything that isn't them is the problem.

... also his family tends to cause problems, but of a lesser personal sort than finding him on the floor with chunks taken out of your clothes in his teeth.
