Hmm so I've been thinking about the whole top/bottom discourse in fandom..mainly after seeing actual discourse about a ship?!

And it got me thinking, how weird that is. Especially bc it seems to be seen as a character trait that informs us about the characters' relationship in general. Sometimes I have this uncanny feeling that top/bottom is just the slightly less problematic version of the old uke/seme bullshit.

Anyways this obviously got me thinking bc my version of Remus is a bottom at heart. I don't think the reason for that goes much deeper than "I roleplay Remus and I'm a total bottom", but I think that's how it ought to be. Just like in real life, I am capable of topping on occasion to please my partner, and so is my Remus. We even enjoy it. But deep down we just love to be pounded senseless.

It's a control thing I suppose. Remus and I are both control freaks after all, and letting go on occasion feels... really good.

But fundamentally I am against the idea that there could be a correct answer on the sexual preferences of a character. Sexual preference does not have to inform: height, gender expression, behavior outside the bedroom, etc, like some people will have you believe.

Sometimes two "bottoms" or two "tops" may fall for each other. They will adjust their sexual practices accordingly.

Sometimes, like me, you never thought you had it in you to top, until you see how much your partner needed you to.

Sex is just a game, and who you are in the bedroom does not define you.

I've been thinking more about the service top prompts in this post I reblogged yesterday (I'd found it a few days beforehand so I had some time to do said thinking before releasing this), and I feel like there's potentially so much extra aftercare cuteness.

What I like imagining is that for the next little while afterwards, the Bottom is slightly out of it to the point where they're trembling a bit while they try doing things, such as trying to put their clothes on. Imagine their hands shaking and fumbling a little while they're trying to pull gloves onto their hands, to which the Service Top very softly grabs the glove and pulls it onto Bottom's hand for them, all whilst gently shushing them and asking them in a loving whisper whether it's on tightly enough for them.

I just love picturing fluffy moments like that in the quiet romance of the aftercare, to put it simply. 💘💓
