When Aunties from New Plymouth wanted to have Korean Food, I had no hesitation in recommending Jami on Link Drive, Wairau Park. We’ve been there 3 times and very much impressed by the food and all the accompaniments. At 7.30pm on a Saturday night, we 5 were the last guests to arrive in the restaurant. There were diners but obviously everyone else were early diners. We had (clockwise from top left): charcoal grilled spicy, chicken thighs, spicy pork ribs, grilled pork belly with fresh kimchi and whole pullet, Korean medicinal herbs and ginseng. And a beef bimbimbap. Our table was a picture of abundance, with all the accompanying side dishes. It was a feast. By 8.15pm, we were the only diners left. The kitchen was cleaning up, the wait staff had gone. By 8.45pm, the lights in the kitchen went out and the kitchen staff left. Most of the main lights in the restaurant had been switched off. One of the 2 chandeliers above our corner was turned off. It was pretty obvious the only person left was the owner of the restuarant. We couldn’t hurry through our meal as there were so many side dishes to savour. So by the time we left the darkened restaurant at 9.05pm, after waiting for the owner to appear to facilitate payment, all the lights went out and the door locked. We realised all our dishes have been left on our table, uncleared. #jamikoreanrestaurant #linkdrive #wairauvalley #charcoalgrilledchicken #spicyporkribs #grilledporkbelly #koreanginsengchicken #beefbimbimbap #closeuptime #instakoreanfood (at Jami)
