And I don't wanna talk about anything, no I don't wanna talk about anything.
a NozoAki orignal work by yours truly~
It was just a dream, just a dream and nothing more. She was safe now, she never had to worry like that again- or at least, not for a while. She wouldn't have to take care of herself, she had support. No more handling everything alone.
That last phrase was a promise to the girl she was laying by, made so early on neither of them had caught feelings yet. It was a promise to her- and later on, the rest of Live/Dreams- to be open, to trust them best she could despite all her fears. And by god, did they keep their end of this promise. They were a family she never had, the true kind where she didn't have to constantly worry about the others' well being. Granted, she still did- but this worry was a different kind. It wasn't a weight on her being, but rather a bloom in her heart. The same feeling she had painting, dancing, and photographing multiplied tenfold around them, no matter what she was doing. In the past year, a feeling she only ever had in the solitude of her hobbies managed to spill into her everyday life, and she yearned to live like this forever.
She was dragged out of her thoughtful, melancholic state by a gentle squeeze closer. Aki had drowsiness evident in her face, and yet she buried herself into Nozomi's neck.
"You alright?" She asked softly, her voice a croak as she murmurs into Nozomi. The smell of Aki surrounds Nozomi like soft, warm fairy lights. She only nods in response, pulling Aki's arms closer with her own and burying her face in them. Her cheeks are still damp with the few tears that came with her nightmare. Aki rolls her over gently, making Nozomi face her soft, gentle and sleepy smile."You don't usually wake up unless there's something on your mind, peach."
Nozomi chuckles softly, warm and affectionate. "Since when could you read me like a book?" she whispers back, detangling their arms before squeezing Aki a little closer.
"Since day one, of course.." Aki teases, her voice gentle and stable now- not a murmuring croak like before.
There's a moment of silence- but it's not cold, or angry, or tense like Nozomi's used to. It's warm, gentle- like the two of them are simply there, but they're together so the world seems kind once more. After a few beats of time- how long, Nozomi wasn't exactly sure- she sighed.
".. Is it okay that I don't wanna talk about it..?" She asks softly, hesitation in her voice. Nozomi's used to certain people pushing, even though she has a hunch Aki wouldn't mind.
"Of course, Nozo." Aki whispers back, hugging her closer. Nozomi's chin now lies on Aki's bare shoulder, her tank top strap slipping to the side per usual. She feels Aki's warmth on her forehead- a breif kiss to her temple, before Aki clears the hair from Nozomi's face. Soon, they fall into silence once again. Instead of Nozomi's usual midnight worries consuming her as she drifts off, however, this time- just like every other sleepover at Aki's- she falls asleep grateful for this feeling, for what she has. No matter how short or long this period of her life may be, Nozomi wants to remember this feeling of security and comfort for the rest of her days. Aki's blankets are warm, her room is just the right kind of cold, and there's no-one to be scared of.
For the first time that she can remember, her dreams finally reflect the warmth she's yearned for, the warmth that is now in her arms and all around her.
