Oak and iron bound ship’s rum or brandy barrel which was salvaged from the HMS Royal George, before 1782

An ivory or bone plaque on the front of the barrel reads “SALVAGED FROM HMS ROYAL GEORGE WHICH CAPSIZED AND SUNK AT SPITHEAD IN 1782 WITH THE LOSS OF 900 LIVES”.
