How do I know what kind of witch I am? Im just beginning with this. So also anything I should know or tips with spells?(p.s. My family doesnt and never will know about me doing these things it has to be a complete secret...)
Knowing what kind of witch you are comes down to what interests you most. I love winter, cooking, domestic activities, storms, death (related stuff), prose, and paper crafts. I practice witchcraft based around what I love most. Creating spells of your own, based on your interests and knowledge is great and can be very rewarding in and of itself.
Investigate, research, learn all you can. Be safe, don’t do anything that could put yourself at risk, such as if your family would consider kicking you out of the house if they discovered your interests. Be smart and safe.
Beyond that, here is a link or two to aid you. This is one for beginners, complete with links to other posts. Here is one for spell writing. On my page under Associations & Guides, you will find a few introduction posts to a couple of types of witchcraft, as well as some correspondences. I also can provide these resources and books (if you can get your hands on them):
Witchcraft (non-Wiccan)
Crone’s Book of Charms & Spells by Valerie Worth
Witchcraft: a History by P.G. Maxwell-Stuart
Mrs. B’s Guide to Household Witchery by Kris Bradley
Candle Magic for Beginners by Richard Webster
Master Book of Candle Burning by Henry Gamache
Ellen Dugan (rough, but her books are lovely and some of my fav)
Non-Wiccan Witchcraft Reading List
Witchcraft by Type
Hedge Witchery Resources
Traditional Witchcraft Resources
Sea Witchcraft Resources / Sea Witchcraft Tag
Kitchen and Green Witchcraft Resources
Urban Witchcraft Resources
Be sure to check the references section of any book you grab, read those books if you can, keep at it. Read all you can. You can begin doing spell craft when you feel ready, I just think reading is fun. :)
I also recommend getting a journal (nothing fancy, just a composition notebook is fine) and record your spells and thoughts in it. I say treat magic like a science experiment. When writing a spell, ensure you include all details so that someone else can recreate the spell just like you would when writing a science experiment. Trial and error are important, don’t be afraid of a few mess ups. Things happen, don’t be disheartened. Keep at it and keep learning. Stay curious and bold. :)
