When I write, I take a deep breath, and let go. I let the words come, let them spill out of me. I stop thinking. I stop trying to understand. I let my emotions carry me, let them tell a story. Let the words speak what my heart has been trying to say.

Sometimes the words come when I least expect them. I find myself scribbling on corners of receipts, on scraps of paper, on the back of my hand. I love to write in ink, in tattered, tired notebooks that carry stories of their own. I love to write poetry and verse, lines that bleed into each other. And I love to write quickly, almost as if there’s hardly a pause in the transfer from mind to page.

My words are heavy, they hold thoughts and confessions and pieces of all the places I’ve been and the emotions I’ve experienced. My words are me, all of me, in the purest, most vulnerable form.

I love that my words can touch the lives of others, can connect, can heal, can bring strangers together. To me, words are what makes us human, makes us real, makes us truly alive. And most of all, shows us that we are never alone, no matter how small we feel. ✏ -//m.d.

Today, somebody asked me a question:- "What do I need to study at college or university to become a writer?" This is a screenshot of my answer. But... Really there's no wrong way, only varying degrees of right. For example, I studied business and finance at university. In hindsight I should have studied English Lit, or creative writing. But I didn't. And lt's okay - I found a different way... I wrote a lot, and within all that writing, I began to identify different ways in which I could improve myself as a thinker and more importantly, a writer. I'm still learning all the time, which is exciting, because it means I'm improving all the time. I'm honing my craft. What I'm really getting at. Is try and view your work through objective eyes. This will help you identify where you can improve. Once you've accomplished this, learn and improvement shall swiftly follow.
