Okay, my friends and followers who are NOT from the United States, I need you to weigh in on some stuff here.

Oh, yeah, should probably say if you get easily offended or don't want to hear me criticise the US, then you probably shouldn't read this. Like, really, leave now and don't get pissed at me later.
Anyway, I'm a senior taking a freshman Spanish class because I lost credit last year due to being ill too much. I am the ONLY upperclassman in this class. It's freshman and sophmore. My teacher was telling us how there was a couple she met in the store who didn't speak English [or very good English? That wasn't clear to me]. They were having some communication problems, so she helped them. One kid in my class looked at her and said "did they pay you to help them? They shoulda paid you 'cus learning ain't cheap." No only did he not even speak good English, but he was being an insensitive ass. I tried my hardest not to bash my head into my desk at this display of stupidity.
The thing is, this is normal in my school. There is so much racism and disregard for other countries. I hear people poke fun of other countries all the time. The way Canadians say "eh", or the accent that British/French/German people have when speaking English. We read "To a Mouse" by Robert Burns and people were making fun of the written brogue. IT IS ITS OWN GOD DAMN LANGUAGE! That is not just someone making up words and calling it poetry. Another person [in my Spanish class] was listening to one of our listening activies that was spoken by a girl from Argentina, which has a different accent from the [mostly] Castillian spanish we are learning. He started to make some noises that were supposed to sound like an Oriental language, saying "oh isn't that what Japanese sounds like?" No, the sounds he was making weren't syllables used in Japanese [much] and it sounded more like Vietnamese words. [It was still a load of nonsense anyway.] IT WAS ALSO RACIST AS FUCK TOWARDS THE ORIENT IN GENERAL AND THE LANGUAGES AND CULTURES THERE! Not only countries, but other religions. Heavens forbid if you're from another country and like, gay, or lesbian. Or if you're polyamourus or have an open relationship. Yeah, fuck you open relationship people and the trust you give to others. Especially if you're not from the United States. Or have some "weird" religion. And oh-fuck-no if you don't support everyone carrying a gun on them at all times. You can just go get bent in an dark alley.
I mean, I know people in my school who are non hetero-normative myself among them. I know people who are of different religions, myself among them again, and I mean more than just Catholicism and the different forms of Christianity They get picked on, ragged on, and in general put down and shut out. I hate it. I hate listening to the people in my classes go "omygawd, you know that one gay chick? Like, I think she was totally checking my out, grossssss." as they all giggle and then proceed to pick that person apart. Or the other people who say " oh ya, he's totally gay. Like, we're really good friends and I just want him to be my gay best friend. Everyone has to have one, right?" Those people who treat homosexual males like another accessory that they HAVE to have in their repertoire. I have a good friend who is of a pagan faith and she is dating a girl, and some people treat her likes she's a plague.
WHAT THE FLYING FUCK?
So, this is where you weigh in. Is it just me? Do I just live in a stupid community, or is it an ugly Americans thing? Because the people around me make me ranty, and they have habit I don't ever want to pick up.
