Cris Cyborg stops Julia Budd at Bellator 238
Adam Borics vs. Pat Curran - Bellator 226
While AJ McKee Jr has gotten much of the spotlight, 2019 was a huge year for Hungarian Featherweight Adam Borics (14-0). He KOed the much hyped Aaron Pico and then stopped former champion Pat Curran in the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix’s opening round.
He’ll be facing former Bellator bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell (13-3) at Bellator 238 this Saturday (Jan. 25) on DAZN. The winner advances on to face AJ McKee Jr in the semifinals.
Sergio Pettis submits Alfred Khashakyan in the 1st!
Pettis drops Khashakyan with a big right hand. He climbs on top of him and lands like 10 unanswered shots as Khashakyan tries to climb to his feet. He switches it up and drops for the guillotine and Alfred goes out cold. Sergio is back to finishing people!
I’m not sure if it’s the drop competition, the fact that he’s not fighting in the same org as his more famous brother, if he’s just finally found his comfort zone, or it’s the move to 135 but Sergio looked confident in a way we didn’t really see for most of his UFC run. He stayed defensively responsible but didn’t shy away from exchanging in the pocket, ultimately hurting his opponent. With a big statement win like that, we may see him fighting for the Bellator BW title in his next appearance. I think we forget how good his run really was at 125 because of all the set backs he had but dude beat John Moraga, Brandon Moreno, and Joseph Benavidez. He was no scrub.
Bellator 238 Line Up
Cris Cyborg debut tonight at Bellator 238 as she faces champion Julia Budd. We also have a featherweight Grand Prix quarterfinal in the co-main event between former BW champion Darrion Caldwell and K.O. artist Adam Borics. Sergio Pettis will be making his Bellator debut. Curtis Millender returns to the Bellator cage. Boxing champion Ava Knight looks to go 2-0 in MMA. Aaron Pico, Raymond Daniels, and more also come to show out. Should be fun.
