Today was a bad day

okay, in fairness, this week SUCKS. A case came into our office where it both makes me remember why I am doing this job but also, lets me know that I can’t help everyone.

Its a family with a disabled adult daughter who is completely incapacitated. They left their home country (3rd world) to come to America because they did not have access to the type of medicine that their daughter/sister needed. This poor woman needs 24 hour care and the family is doing the best they can.

But they need help. 

They’ve made some bad decisions on behalf of their daughter/sister but it was not done in a malicious way. The state is coming in and taking guardianship to her and revoking all decision making rights from the family. She will still remain at home with her family but they just won’t get a say in her medical care anymore.

To sit down and have that conversation with them, explaining that they are going to loose their rights to care for their loved one has me torn up inside. It would be one thing if they were awful people who were purposefully out to harm their child, but they are not.

They are just over their head. They are overwhelmed. They need help and because they are overwhelmed, they’ve made some very bad mistakes. 

I want so badly to help them but there is literally nothing I can do and it is eating at me. 

Sorry for the rant....I’m just not having a good week.

Weekend Goals

Hi y'all, 

So, my mini mental health break has been really nice. My head feels a bit clearer and I’m less stressed. Still stressed but less so. 

ANYWAY. Here are my goals for the weekend and how it will help me get back into the groove of things.

1) Dinner with family tonight. My aunt is buying dinner for us tonight and I’m excited about it. 

2) Tomorrow: slow cook white chicken chili. Make extra for lunches during the week. 

3) Clean my house. I will DEEP CLEAN tomorrow. I always feel better with a fresh clean house. 

4) Edit Demonology chapter nine. 

5) Begin Demonology chapter thirteen. 

6) MAYBE begin Just Another Fairytale chapter six. 

If only my dog would do all this for me. 😂

First things first, It is a very rewarding area of work I am in and while custody is not the only area of law I work in (I’m a paralegal, not an attorney) it is the area that takes up most of my time. While there is so much “Jerry Springer” drama that I see on a daily basis, there are the heartwarming cases too. While the abuse cases are the hardest to deal with, they are really are a driving force to do what I do; and that is to do what is best for those kids and get them out of a bad situation. 

Then there are days like today. 

Sometimes it is my job to tell people what they don’t want to hear. I was talking with a recovering drug addict who had lost her children through the state due to her addiction. She has been clean for close to a year and is trying to get her kids back. I was explaining how it is not an overnight process and that it will take time and she will have hoops to jump through. She tells me that what she is hearing and that what I was telling her made her want to seek out drugs and go get high. 

While logically I understand that it is not my fault for the choices other people make, it still stings to potentially be that person who sends someone over the edge. I talked her down the best I could and she agreed to go and contact her sponsor but I’m just.....I don’t want to be that person who makes someone releases....or worse, overdose. 

I don’t want that on my conscious. 

I hope she gets the help she needs and maybe I was able to talk her down but it really felt like a gut punch in the stomach. 

I don’t know. I spoke with the attorney and we talked through it but it just....sucks sometimes.

It’s Monday and I’m working from home. 

I seriously do not want to work today.

Although, if I don’t get my car back; I might be working from home all week.

I do not want to be an adult today. Can’t I just listen to ‘folklore’ and write all day? 

No?

#BelleMorte Sin duda qué hay muy bien material en Wattpad . Esta historia muy bien llevada acabado de principio a fin , a pesar de que llega a ser predecible en varios sucesos, la manera en que lleva acabo los sucesos y los giros “esperados “ la hacen una novela fresca y fácil de entender y leer . No hay paja lo cual se agradece mucho . Personajes entrañables , generan empatía . Si es posible que tenga muchos elementos de twiligth , y las comparaciones no se evitarán . Pero al menos no hay brillos . Ni señor venganzas. En resumen . Una historia muy bien desarrollada. Un final que te deja con ganas de saber que pasará con sus protagonistas y antagonistas .
