Jacob Arrow and Ben Shepherd headcanons??

Yay! An excuse to make headcanons for two of my favourite characters and non-canon ship! (Seriously, why couldn’t these two have been canon?)

Let’s see if I can make some individual headcanons and some ship ones for fun!

Jacob Arrow

He is the king of DIY. You have something that needs fixing? Something custom to be built? Jacob is a Jack of all trades and can complete any project that is thrown his way! Even after losing his arm, Jacob didn’t let it stop him from taking on new projects; he just needed to re-evaluate how to do them

He has one of the lilies from Lily’s wedding bouquet preserved in resin. He keeps the flower in his trailer, and it's one of his most precious possessions, and no one but Ben is allowed to touch it

After losing his arm, Jacob contemplated getting a prosthetic. But living on the road made it hard enough to recover, let alone be able to do everything that was required to get a prosthetic. So, he learned how to live his life with only one arm, and if he ever encountered a task that required two arms, well, he always has Ben around to help him!

Jacob doesn’t have any family. No parents, siblings, or other relatives that he knows of. However, he’s very close to Ben’s family, as his parents essentially adopted Jacob when Ben brought him home to celebrate Christmas one year (and every year following, as long as they could attend). Jacob has also come to view his team as his family in all but blood, and sometimes, he wonders what it would have been like to grow up surrounded by so much love

Ben Shepherd

Ben was Jacob’s best man at his and Lily’s wedding. Jacob didn’t have many friends outside of Ben, and certainly not ones as close to him as Ben was. Ben was honoured to be the best man and is not ashamed to say he cried a lot during the wedding

He is an AMAZING cook and baker! He learned from his family and has a book of treasured recipes from relatives he has collected over the years, as well as recipes he has found in cookbooks, magazines, and online. Before he and Jacob became hunters, Ben didn’t cook and bake that much, but he relearned the skills after they started travelling, so the pair would have delicious and nutritious meals to enjoy

He keeps a detailed record in his recipe book that includes lists of his teammates’ food allergies and sensitivities, along with their favourite and least favourite foods. That way, he always knows what to make when someone on the team needs a pick-me-up. Ben also has everyone’s birthdays saved in his phone’s calendar so that he never forgets to bake a cake or the person’s favourite dessert

Ben’s favourite holiday is Halloween; it has always been and always will be. He loved dressing up and going trick-or-treating around his neighbourhood when he was a kid and knew which houses had the best candy. As he grew older, he also gained a love for horror movies, and he has seen just about every horror film made. Even as an adult, he still loves Halloween and dresses up when he can (sometimes convincing the team to join him), but costume or not, he will find the time to relax with a good Halloween movie and snacks to celebrate the holiday

Ben X Jacob

They cut each other's hair. Or rather, Ben cuts Jacob’s hair (and sometimes his beard) while Jacob shaves Ben’s head. They know what style each other likes and trust the other to do it correctly

They are the only ones who can wake each other up and calm them down from a nightmare. They get nightmares of being in the military, Lily’s death, Jacob losing his arm, and so many more horrors that it's impossible to keep track of all the nightmares. But no matter which horror plagues their dreams, Jacob and Ben know they’re safe so long as they have each other

When Jacob was in the hospital after losing his arm, Ben was rarely away from his side. Some staff assumed he was Jacbo’s husband. (Didn’t help that Ben had introduced himself as Jacob’s partner when he’d brought Jacob to the emergency department. In his defence, he had been terrified and not thinking clearly at the time.) Ben stayed by Jacob’s side through all the surgeries, tests, and rehab, even when Jacob tried to convince Ben that it was pointless for him to stay, as Jacob would only be holding him back. But Ben didn’t care if Jacob was down an arm; he wasn’t going to abandon him, not then, not ever. They vowed to have each other's backs through thick and thin, and Ben wasn’t going to break that promise

They plan to retire from hunting one day, and when they do, they want to buy a cabin in the woods with a lake and plenty of space to finally relax. They also want their home to have enough room for when the team visits, as even though they will one day hang up their weapons, they won’t be giving up the family they created and the friends they made along the way

Why can’t I be writing S7? I have so many ideas for it, I think I might explode if I don’t share some! At least I have the rest of S4 and S5 to keep me occupied until then! (Sorry, S6, you’re not my type. But I’ll still write you.)

BenxJacob Week Day 5: Hope

An AU in which Ben and Jacob are retired military dads, and Hope is their baby. :3

Also, yes, Jacob is having a full-on "never speak to me, my husband, or my daughter ever again" moment. He's an overprotective dad and we love him for that.

Thinkin' about how Jacob and Benjamin's height difference is literally an entire foot. Like a whole 12 inches. 30.5 centimeters.

who said i love you first, ben or jake? do they get married? does jake want kids? who’s more romantic? first date ideas? anyways i’m a whole Slut for benjamin x jacob so please,,, give me more hcs 😅😅

OMG hi okay so I have many asks (by my standards) to go through over break ieksisjshe ily and I loooove this plus I swore I will get at Least One Ask done before I sleep tonight so help me so here we go

Ben says I love you first! He tries to pull it off as a sort of casual even if inside he's nervous, but Jake hears him and it really does stop him dead in his tracks for a moment because it's kind of a first for him? to hear it said openly and just for him and he doesn't have to fight for it, it's just out there, freely given - and he blurts it out immediately, "I love you, too!!", almost like if he doesn't say it back fast enough, Ben might take it back (which is silly because that would never happen because Ben thinks he's the sun and moon). After the first few times, it becomes part of their daily life. It's their goodbye, and their 'I'm sorry', and their 'thank you'.

They do get married, but it takes a while for them to wise up and realize they need a ceremony sjsjjsuwha. They basically transition into married life without even realizing, especially when they start integrating Ben's coven, and Jake's pack (in my AU that semi-extends to the Olympic Coven because of Leah and Seth, and really that's the case for any AU where the whole Swan-Clearwater step-sibling thing is taken seriously (as it should be!!)). They travel between the two, being domestic and getting to really know and love each other's broods, and one day when Ben is making Jake some eggs and Quil pokes fun at how married they are, it just sort of hits them that... they weren't already? And they laugh it off but the idea sticks in Jake's mind well into the night and the next morning he immediately makes his excuses and goes out to pick out a ring. He calls up Tia for an estimate ring size and then Amun to ask for his blessing, which he receives, and he proposes when and where he can be sure to gather the pack and the coven together at a moment's notice, at a gorgeous cliffside overlook (my Schitt's Creek roots are showing). Their rings are gold and they get married at La Push.

Jake does want kids, and to a lesser extent, so does Benjamin, but they do have to talk logistics before they get too excited. What sort of home are they ready to provide? Do they go back to the reservation, and for how long? Where will they go to school? How long can they afford to stay in one place anyways? What citizenship will they have? To what extent will their supernatural lives be included in that of their child? How do they involve both the coven and the pack without making the kid's life too hectic or unstable? Do they want their kids to have the option to be turned? In the end, I see them adopting one kid at first - it's never been about blood for Jake, he just wants to give a family, to be a family for kids who don't have one. Maybe if they see a pair of siblings who don't want to be separated, they adopt two. And when things go smoothly, relatively, as much as they could've hoped, I see them continuing to adopt, and being lovely parents. Benjamin would certainly be a better dad than he assumed he'd be, very caring and loving but also fun and playful. He'd love using his powers to conjure little shows for the kids. (Eventually, some of them would get too cool for this, which might make him pout.) Jake would, ironically, have to be the one to remind him that parents also need to discipline, not just nurture (so long as discipline is handled kindly obvs). And we all know Jake would be an amazing dad, right? He'd teach the kids how to fix up cars and bikes, and take them to the beach, and... I have a visceral image of him taking his kids to one of those big snowy hills in the mountains and going sledding with them (heavily influenced by how my dad and I would do the same lol).

First date is when Jake hears that Benjamin has never been mini-golfing and Jake claims that they need to rectify this immediately, and more or less whisks him away to a cheesy course ala Boomers or Camelot. Benjamin decidedly does not know how to hold a golf club right, there's blushy romcom moments where Jake adjusts his grip and stance, and mimes the swing with him, and some silly moments where Ben has to learn to control his strength when his swing puts a golf ball through the windmill - leaving a perfect round hole in its walls. From then on, of course, the two are getting supernaturally perfect scores, though one time Ben makes a saucy remark just as Jake goes to swing and the poor man is so suddenly flustered that he hits the ball sailing out of the amusement park, into the great unknown. They officially acknowledge it as their first date 2/3 of the way in, when Jake says "when we go on the next date", and Ben gives him this look, and Jake shrugs and tries to play it super chill, but they both know and are so excited and it's adorable. They go mini-golfing as regularly as immortals can do anything regularly after that, and the real competition eventually becomes coming up with the most ludicrous way to get a hole in one. Ben has a leg up with his powers, but Jake's got the creative edge by a mile.

I love this ship so much it's ridiculous and nobody makes content for them so I will do it my damn self if I have to!!! Except you have to ask and send me prompts because I will forget anything that is not put directly in front of me lsjjsakuwba anyways ily and ty and enjoy my very gay hcs
