Did I take a trip to Denver mainly to visit Benji? If you know anything about my love for animals, the answer might not surprise you.
I had no idea a dog behaviorist could tell you all of that. I really didn’t. I thought they were a glorified trainer. Omg I wish I’d known this sooner. Now I need to find one and save up for it. Thank you for sharing that experience.

An update on Thyme, he is much calmer. Even though we have had off lead dogs approach us, he is returning back to his normal spaniel teenage self instead of over defensiveness.
(Although noting he seems hyperaware and concerned over GSDs so we attempt to just watch them from the distance at current, fair enough as our bad experiences were primarily GSDs)
We have been doing his homework every night and it is reducing his pacing around the house/helping him chill out. He’s getting very good at waiting calmly in it rather than fretting over not being with me. This has also led to some improvements with him waiting in the car at events - although he still barks a bit, he’s not going on for as long as he did previously. His insecure territory barking is improved too, although some of that is due to environmental manipulation I haven’t posted about yet (someone remind me).
Funny story but last night I had asked both dogs to go to bed for their homework. Then in my tireds I forgotten I had asked this. They stayed in their beds while I then crawled into the roof to set up rat traps, came back down, had a shower and cooked dinner. Considering all the (odd) noises and smells, I am surprised no-one investigated:
