Hello. I am Halina, a friend of Aya in the United States, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of her and her family. Please donate to help them get food and shelter as they face suffering beyond imagination. Here is her story:

My name is Aya, a mother of two beautiful children — Habiba and Adam.

Our home in Gaza was completely destroyed by the war. My husband was severely injured and is currently in critical condition. We have no shelter, no food, and no safety.

Worse still, my little boy Adam is sick.

He needs urgent medical care, but we have no access to treatment. Every day without help puts his life at greater risk.

I feel so helpless watching him suffer.

I was studying psychology, hoping to build a better life and support others… but now I can’t even protect my own children.

Ghassan Kanafani (1936–1972)

Ghassan Kanafani (1936–1972) was a Palestinian writer, journalist, and leading intellectual whose work became a cornerstone of modern Arabic literature.

Born in Acre (then under the British Mandate of Palestine), he was displaced with his family during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, an experience that deeply influenced his writing. Kanafani is best known for novels and short stories such as Men in the Sun and Return to Haifa, which explore themes of exile, identity, loss, and Palestinian resistance.

Beyond literature, he was an influential journalist and political activist associated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Kanafani was assassinated in Beirut, Lebanon, on July 8, 1972, at the age of 36, but his writings continue to be widely read and celebrated across the Arab world and beyond.
