Last week, Benji Lewis dropped a superb EP in Together Apart, a four track collection of gorgeously glimmering, emotively tugging pop arias with beautifully crafted electronic production, oft exquisitely atmospheric. Us Again is probably the release’s stand out track, a coruscant shimmering, lush whirling gem with tenderly stirring cooing cradled elegantly on a bed of beautifully ethereal electronica. Together Apart, the LA-based Australian artist’s third EP, was produced by none other than Brisbane producer Golden Vessel, whom we’ve also praised on IHM countless times in the past. Back to talent abundant Australia we go as Melbourne’s Benji Lewis gives us a ravishing first taste from a forthcoming sophomore EP. Drift does exactly that. It’s a serenely meditative electronic and pop aria that tinkles tenderly and glides gently. We get a clear whiff of summer nostalgia from Drift as we hover alongside Benji Lewis’ effortless cooing. “Lighter than before, sit back, eyes wide” croons Benji on the sublime song.
