Springing to life, in the lull between finals and Alumni Reunion/Commencement.
Invariably, the campus begins to look its best just as the semester ends and there are relatively few people around to appreciate its beauty. A walk from the main library in Mudd to the science library in the Science Center brought this home. The fragrance of the flowering trees along the east side of the Bent Corridor (named for George R. and Ruth Schoeni Bent) is wonderful right now. The empty picnic tables are an invitation to linger outside (get out of the lab!). The sculpture “Bound Tetrahedron” is worthy of climbing by small persons (children love its curves) and the window seats on the north side of the science library are perfect for a short break with one of the books from the display on science communication.
This quiet interlude will be brief -- many alumni return on Friday! Welcome to all alumni, family, and friends, and congratulations to graduating seniors.
