Such a sad day for Marshall County High School
I have lots that I could say about today and I have on various others parts of social media. I woke up at 8:16 am to a call that my cousin was in a locked down classroom at her higschool because there was a shooting. She was okay. Tears flowed from my eyes as I began to wonder about my co workers. Found out later they were okay. My cousin was in a room where the door wouldn’t lock and a couple girls set against the door hoping it would help. All ten of them made it out safely. Not everyone can say that’s the case. Multiple people were injured by a gunshot wound and 2 were killed. One girl died on the scene and the other one, a boy, died at the hospital. It’s such a sad and tragic thing to find out it’s happening in your tiny town. In our town everyone knows everyone in one way or another. Kids ran fleeing from the school in anyway possible. I have read multiple students accounts and saw a video of boy talking about it. I heard a few boys and one girl in Walmart talking about their account. The store although full of people was quiet today. Tear stained faces came in and out all day long. The day seemed to be in slow motion at times and then be in fast forward. It was strange. The whole community was just trying to get by today. It was sad. I’m just thankful the ones I knew personally were all okay. I’ll never forget waking up to that phone call. Just say a prayer for the families who don’t get to see their children again and for the ones who are awaiting to know if their child will be okay. It’s scary. The shooter was only 15 years old and he chose to do this. He ended the safety that these kids felt. I hope he is locked up for a long time. This could have been prevented, yet gun laws don’t seem to be as simple as I wish they could be. That being said just hold your family close and love on them tonight because you never know when it’ll be your last moment with them.
