Then vs Now
Bernie! 🐻
I finally sat down to redraw him. And at last, he fits the image I had in mind for him. A strong, cool dude with questionable morals, unlike the aristocratic Vlad
I can't stop admiring them... Why does Uncle Bernie look so hot...
I decided to show their differences clearly
Thinking about their roles: with that physique, he'd be the perfect blacksmith or frontline warlord. Vlad is the diplomatic face and the strategist (though no stranger to battle), but Bernie? He's the brute force, the political muscle
Ever since you made Dracula with long hair (and it was beautifully successful) Do you think his father Vlad would look good with long hair too? Like the original Impaler?
Thanks for the question! Sorry for the late reply, been swamped with stuff 🫠
Anyway, yes, I think long hair would suit Vlad
He'd probably keep it slicked back, no loose pieces, with the front strands tied at the nape (I loved how that looked in your sketches).
But honestly, I don't think he kept it for long. Partly because Bernie loved yanking on his locks, both during fights and just for fun
Oh, and also – the real historical figure, as we know from pictures, had dark curly hair. I (and probably many other artists) draw him with straight hair. I don't think curls would suit Vlad, but this could make for a funny headcanon: that Vlad's hair starts to curl in humid weather. And amusingly, Drac might not have inherited this trait, his hair is just permanently straight, no matter what
After the fight...

Starting with Vlad
What? Were you expecting elegant handwriting with lots of flourishes? Yeah, me too, until I actually looked into it. This is 16th-century script. They had to write fast back then, so the letters are often squished and simplified. Font: Joscelyn.
Bernie
His looks similar to Vlad's, but rougher, sharper, and messier. No time for pretty letters, and his hands probably aren't built for long writing sessions. Font: Joscelyn (with my tweaks)
Drac
His is a mix — a bit softer and fancier, but you can still see the old-school strictness. I also think he'd add a little dragon doodle to his signature. Font: P22 Civilite No11
Lydia
She took all the family's elegance. Unlike the strict 'masculine' fonts, she probably enjoys taking her time with every letter. Font: P22 Marcel Script Pro
Mavis
Couldn't quite decide. I think her handwriting might be rounder, almost like a schoolkid's. Font: Josef K Paneuropean
A bear's gotta live up to its name, right? 😏
