Meet My Friend: Beauty!

I was going to skip Berry's 'Meet my Friend' challenge  this week due to several work-in-progress. However, during one of my breaks, I invited Beauty over for a visit and in the middle of it, she bought new glasses. So on a whim, I took a picture of her and thought "hey! I can do the challenge right now!". So I asked if she would agree to be victimised interviewed for the challenge and she graciously agreed. XD

Beauty and I were introduced by a mutual friend when we were both around 2 weeks old. We were close in RL age, had the same avatar, found out we worked in the same field (Human Resource/Employee Relations) and that we were both from the same ethnic minority, albeit living in a different country. The metaverse is huge and yet we found ourselves  practically metaverse-twins! XD

As you will pick up very quickly throughout this interview, despite formerly being 'twins', we are very different. She is a romantic at heart, while I'm as romantic as a plate of chargrilled eggplant. She also has a heart of gold and is very patient, whereas I have the patient the size of an amoeba.

This interview was the perfect opportunity to make use of the [Commoner] Chatterbox / "All About Me" Edition that I picked up from last week's 50L Friday.

At the time writing, Beauty is recuperating from patent foramen ovale surgery. I'm mentioning this now to give context to some of her answers. Alright, let's get on with the interview! :) Interview after the cut.

What chore or activity do you absolutely hate doing? And we'll spice this up: what chore or activity you hate doing in SL, and then in RL?

Chore? hmmm...ironing...i find it really hard to make those wrinkles go away.  That is in RL. For SL, i dont like to do activities that do not reflect me...example., im very picky with dances in the dance ball. some people say that sl should be an avenue where u can be another person. but for me sl is an extension of my reality and how u know me in sl is how u know me in rl. so im awkward with doing activities that do not reflect me.

Who is your celebrity crush?

Aamir Khan - Bollywood :)  Im Filipino but I love his movies. He produces them as well and I love how his movies tackle social issues. They have deep meanings. My most favorite movie of his is Lagaan :) 

"What is your favorite body part?" Zee: Oh wow, this is a bit personal. Let's do RL and SL favourite body parts.

For RL: My hands...shallow reason would be they are too small, thus fingernails are small too, thus again (hihihihi), i dont need to spend for manicure coz not worth it...also my hands have always been useful in my job...to pat a shoulder, to hold another person's hands when crying and to hug when these girls are in deep pain :)

For SL:  My face!!!! coz it doesnt grow big....my face has the tendency to be the first to grow big in RL. i love eating and the cheeks soon become chubby. and i love it too coz im not a make-up person and this face looks good even without make-up. PS: people might ask if she is not a make-up person, why does her pp show she is on make-up? i took that before my surgery with a motto saying: If the operation does not work, God, i want to die beautiful at least. Hahahahahaha

If you knew the world was ending within the next year, what would you do differently?

I love what im doing now and i wont trade this for the world...but if the world would end in 2014, i want to try being a chef in a five-star international hotel...always dreamt of wearing that chef hat...hihihihi..and do a solo dive in the Marianas Trench :D. Of course, get married! And have children :))))

If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?

This would be both for SL and RL. A charity party to raise funds to create a safe haven for sexually trafficked and molested children and teens. Here, they could get their healing and start living again. Well, I guess I told u this already Zee, it would be a dream to get a sim here and create that place. SL is a perfect avenue since they dont need to reveal their identities.

What was the last movie, TV show or book that made you cry or tear up?

Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. She wrote this fictional romance novel story, inspired by the Book of Hosea from the Bible. Michael here received instruction from God to marry Angel, a woman who was sold to prostitution since she was a child. Cried so hard on how love could slowly change a bitter woman. Cried all the more how Michael loved someone so imperfect; and how God continued to inspire him to continue loving as he discovered more and more of the dark secrets of Angel. He could have given up as time passed by but wooooow, such love!!!! U should read it too Zee!

The best part of waking up is?

Oh this is very real to me now to so im gonna make it short but right to the dot. The best part of waking up is having another day to live :))))

Would you rather be fairly good at many things or the very best at one thing?

Hmmm. This is hard. Can I say fairly good at many things and then honing them to best, or to be easier, better? Hihihihihi :))))

I know you love to sing! So what song do you sing in the shower or when driving alone?

The Climb by Miley Cyrus. I'm not a pop fanatic. Usually go for alternative or country. But this song has beautiful lyrics. Oh yeah, 'Im more of a lyrics person too. No matter how nice the tune is, I dig for the lyrics. The lyrics define a good song for me. Also, it's a nice song to sing in the shower. Best acoustics ever! *giggles*

Berry’s Proportion Challenge

Woah. Berry posted a loaded challenge this week. A quick babble before I get on to the challenge:

My first week in SL, I changed my slider into my RL height. That quickly became a problem. You see, I'm 5ft in RL...on a good day. On a particularly cold day, I swear I shrink about 4 inches or so. XD

I'm already shorter than almost everyone I know. My 10 year old nephew is taller than me! Transfer this to SL, where everyone seems to be the lovechild of an Amazonian Goddess and Olympus Titan, then you can see how being a Midget Bridget would not work for me in the long run. Somehow, being 5ft is not standard in SL and I found myself sinking into a lot of old furnitures.

Most things in SL is bigger than life…so I caved in and made myself taller.

And yet at 6.3ft, I'm still shorter than most in SL!

Proportions Challenge Questions:

Do you try and keep your avatar’s body proportionate and similar to the “average” proportions pictured above? – I tried in the beginning. I used the Ruined Proportionator by Vaelissa Cortes. An overview on how to use it is here. Basically you get a box prim and resize it to enclose the shape of your head, and then the box will rezz several of your ‘head size’ prims relative to your height. And using the guide, just link enough prims for your other body parts, using it as a more or less accurate ruler, since the measurement is based on your head size.

And then when I started to feel comfortable wearing mesh clothing, I mod my body every now and again, and I haven’t had time to see if they are correctly proportioned.  

What do you dislike the most about the SL avatar mesh? No opinion so far, yet to try one. This question is about about avatar made from mesh, right? I’m assuming that mesh avatar cannot be modified...so…

Does it bother you when you see other avatars that are not proportionate at all? – Not so much ‘bother me’, more accurately to say it pique my curiosity. Lately, I have seen a lot these shape going around as I travel the grid: short female avatars, with smaller boobs, big booties and short torso. I don't know what that shape or subculture is officially called, but I personally don’t think it’s proportionate. HOWEVER,  I have to admit, I find this shape strangely sexy and alluring!

Even though this is a virtual world and people can be anything they want to be, do you feel when they are in human form, they should try to keep their proportions close to average? Nope, this is Second Life, what’s the point of being in a virtual world that closely mimics the real world? There are plenty of human avatars that are proportionate. With the ability to TP wherever, one does not need to be anywhere where the whole place is filled with disproportionate human avis, if one is so prone to be annoyed by disproportion. I can fly in SL, and I set up house with a click, so I’m all for everyone being whatever and looking however they like in their virtual environment. ;)

Righty-O, the nitty gritty: my digits

This is the shape I use to wear mesh clothing. I have a different shape for systems /prim clothing (yes, I still have them!). This shape is not checked for proportion.

Mondaytitis + Weird Questions Meme

It has been a long and busy day and didn't get home til late. Here, we are catching up for a bit before calling it a day...on my new LISP Tree Seat. Get it here at Collabor88! Or go to LISP main store. 

I wasn't going to spend on Collabor88 this week as I'm holding on to my L$ for Summerfest and TLC The Garden ...but Melinda made me. She is so bad for my SLwallet. Instead of blaming my lack of willpower, I'm just going to blame her. That is my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

Though I really am not regretting this purchase at all. ;) 

As soon as he left, I took a quick shower, put rollers in my hair, slipped into my jammies....and once my head hit the pillow, I remembered I have Strawberry Singh's meme to do...sigh...

So grabbing my Aloutte lantern and my trusty ol' laptop...I trudged outside and...

"Wait, why can't you just blog from bed? Why do you have to go outside, in the dark?"

Which was the last sim you visited? (Other than your home)   The Forever sim, to use the Secret Sandbox. Which isn't that much of a secret now that I'm revealing where I usually tinker with projects. Haha. I like it there because it's huge, people leave me alone most times, griefers are dealt with promptly and one of the administrators is always around to answer questions.

Does your avatar look like the real you? Skin and hair colour wise, yes. I tend to buy and wear only black hair, and fair skin. Other than that, not so much!

Do you wear underwear/panties underneath your clothing when out and about on the grid? I never used to…until a friend pointed out that if I sit a certain way, my kitty cat shows.  Still, I now only wear undies when I’m wearing a dress or skirt, otherwise I don’t bother. And unless someone is camming in real close, they probably won't realize it. So the question is...how would one know whether I am wearing it or not, right? And why were you camming up my skirt?!?

If you won a million linden dollars, what would be the first thing you buy inworld? More furnitures, which will mean more prefabs to house them. Actually, a more accurate answer will be to buy a SIM so I can put up ALL my prefabs. And then never ever leave that SIM because I'd be too busy building. YES.

Have you ever bought something in SL and then realized afterwards that you had already owned it from before? Ah, so far, not yet. I'm an organized nerd in RL, and my SL inventory is organized. I sort out once a week, and even have a list of everything I own. I kid you not. The only doubles I have in my inventory are gacha items. Envy me, humans! 

Have you ever done anything in Second Life that would be considered illegal in real life? Prostitution is illegal in my part of the world and so...I'm kidding! No, I haven't done anything out of ordinary, even in SL. I'm boring that way.

If you could go out on a date with any other avatar, who would it be? Ah, I haven't been in SL that long yet to form this opinion. But if I have to pick, it'll be Jay Tedder Murs. I have been ogling all his interior decorating photos. 

Who, in your opinion, was the greatest avatar to ever slive? Can I do two? Olivia Catherine and Melinda Palianta. I have a lot of time for both of them. :)

What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done inworld? Ending up naked and losing my legs in NCI Kuula during my super noob days. Fortunately, the folks there were understanding of my noobiness and directed me to the changeroom, even gave me a quick tutorial on how to dress myself. I was mortified.

If your avatar had a mind of its own, what do you think it would say to you? “No, you do not need another prefab. How many houses do you  need, you only have a little plot of  land!” Naturally, I won’t listen.
