Apple computers had been interfaced to videodisc players before, but this issue’s feature article talked about using them to control cheaper and more immediately available (if not as versatile) VCRs. The editorial offered suggestions for how Apple could build on the momentum of 1984, and reported rumours that Atari and Commodore would soon be offering “Apple-compatible computers,” meaning more downward pressure on prices.
Well since I won a Sanyo Betacord VCR on eBay, I thought I’d go ahead and buy a couple Beta videos...such as Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Queen’s Greatest Video Flix. ;)
I’m sure next I’ll add to my Beta video collection will be the first 2 Indiana Jones movies as well as the original Star Wars trilogy.)
