The Bertram Family Album: Volume XV

It's a big day. With the uncertainty about their future now behind them, Keziah is moving in with William and his family, back in Merybury.

She's getting to know her parents-in-law.

And settling in.

Before winter sets in, there's just time to host the long-awaited wedding.

Those are not the wedding outfits I chose for them, and why Keziah's brother Robert is wearing that random suit - instead of his own - I do not know.

Some of the other guests seem to have neglected their finery altogether. Humph!

Never mind - it's still a lavish party, going on late into the night, once the bride and groom have changed their outfits.

Keziah's cousin Joanna is very happy for her, and can't help wondering when it might be her turn. Her fiancé Louie is pointedly looking the other way...

Keziah extols her new husband's extensive virtues to her cousin Beth.

The happy couple eventually sneak away from the crowd for a little private party of their own.

That's almost certainly some sort of record.

Keziah's possible morning sickness doesn't seem to be putting them off their stride though.

And the question of is she or isn't she is very swiftly resolved!

Ah, they're such a tight-knit little family!

OK, well, it's not always entirely harmonious between the brothers.

Anyway, it's time to put any sibling rivalry aside, as it's Brandon's 13th birthday! That looks like some wish he's making.

Time to blow out the candles!

Although most of his extended family have gathered to celebrate his birthday with him, Brandon doesn't want little sister Elizabeth to feel left out, so he makes it a priority to give her some attention too. What a sweetie!

As soon as he gets a chance, he heads straight out to the garage to try out his birthday present. Maybe his brother Giles was right - perhaps piano isn't his instrument after all!

I hadn't realised what a high achiever he is all round - I think he has a bright future ahead of him! (I also realised that he actually has Beth's eyes, not Bertram's, so he's 'grown out' of his glasses now - I have a rule that any child who shares the eye shape of a parent that wears glasses, will also wear glasses themselves.)

Elizabeth's birthday shortly after is a much quieter affair.

The Bennet Family Album: Volume VIII

We're dropping in today on a family we haven't seen in a while - the Bennets.

We're welcomed by very toothy toddler, Elizabeth.

It's potty time...

bathtime...

and playtime for Elizabeth.

And then rather public woohoo-on-the-sofa time for Bertram and Beth, making the most of their time at home together.

Thankfully, they're all done and dusted before the boys get home from school, bringing their friends Phineas and Annabel with them…

...who stay for tea. Annabel is already issuing invitations for her next birthday party, where she's planning to have all her family present, as well as her many friends.

Midge is having much less success socially.

Ouch! Although it's more hurt pride than anything. Grace the Stroppy Stray is a real terror though!

Cousins Miles and Benjamin have always got along well, and neither has any serious commitments, so it makes sense that after graduation they would find the perfect bachelor pad together.

Miles gets on the phone to Anna straight away, to invite her to inaugurate the new bed.

Benjamin has a guest too - umm, Beth, I thought that you and Bertram were very much an item now?! Perhaps she simply couldn’t resist the opportunity to hook up with her first crush when it presented itself?

Look, you’ve only just graduated and you don’t even have jobs yet - how can you need a holiday already?

Umm, share and share alike, I guess?

Miles is having a bit less fun, outside.

I’m sure it isn’t anything that you haven’t see before, Benjamin!

Benjamin earns his keep by doing most of the cooking, and he’s becoming quite proficient at it.

A hot tub is an essential investment for any self-respecting aspiring playboys. (Anna seems to be ruining the mood by reminding everyone that life is short.)

And it certainly sees a lot of action...

from some rather unexpected quarters too!

I’m guessing it’s never been quite like that with fiancé Crawford!

Yes, their free-and-easy lifestyle is proving to be everything that the guys hoped it would be.

Except that deep down, Benjamin can’t help feeling a slight sense of unease - is this the real him? Or maybe his disastrous relationship with Clara has affected him more than he realised, and made him too wary of commitment?

Maybe it’s time to rethink his priorities in life...

And with that, Benjamin’s Aspiration is changed from Knowledge / Romance to Knowledge / Popularity, which it always should have been, but I made a mistake when I first assigned his Aspiration as a teen. Sorry, Benjamin!

The Bennet Family Album: Volume VI

With Bennet babies arriving thick and fast, Bertram and Beth decide it’s time to move out of their rented accommodation in Sanditon, and get a place of their own back in Merybury.

The excitement of moving day apparently brings on Beth's contractions.

And while she seems quite relaxed about giving birth on the front lawn, eldest son Brandon isn’t quite so convinced about witnessing the miracle of new Sim-life.

Finally, the Bennets welcome their first daughter - hello, Elizabeth!

Brandon is much more excited once his new sibling arrives.

And then it’s back to the important task of bug hunting in the family’s new garden.

Meanwhile, middle child Giles is engaged in indoor pursuits.

Sadly, when it’s his turn to age up, he doesn’t have his dad’s full attention.

Bertram and Beth are back home from honeymoon, and reunited with their young son Brandon.

They also seem to have brought a memento back with them.

Yep, another son! Welcome, Giles! Also with the Bennet deep brown eyes, but blonde hair, like his grandma Marianne.

Giving birth works up quite an appetite. Even for festering pizza.

High five, little man, it’s your birthday today! (And the toilet needs cleaning again.)

All the family is invited to the party, of course.

The event is somewhat marred by some unexpected rivalry in the kitchen over Mary. (Robert also seems to have perfected the art of standing around awkwardly.)

But both Edmund and George are far too nice to part on bad terms, and everything is smoothed over pretty quickly.

The Bennet Family Album: Volume IV

Although Bertram and Beth couldn’t stretch to a lavish wedding, they had set aside something for a short honeymoon trip.

Sprucing up, before heading out to see what Twikkii Island has to offer.

Bertram meets a very friendly local in the hotel lobby, but is a little puzzled by her manner of greeting.

He gamely gives it a go himself though!

Beth on the other hand is soon feeling very fatigued after the long flight, and heads back to their room for an early night.

The next morning, it’s off to Mango Market, where Bertram attempts to perfect ‘hanging loose’. His enthusiastic efforts seems to be well received by the locals, even if he hasn’t quite got the hang of it.

There’s so much to do! Messing about in the hot tub.

A bit of souvenir shopping.

A relaxing massage.

A dip in the pool. They end up staying all day! (Well, until it started raining pink soup, and I had to send them back to the hotel, crossing my fingers that my game wouldn’t crash before I had a chance to save.)

Oh, bad luck, Bertram, catching a cold on your honeymoon!

He still has enough voice to sing a duet with Beth though.

The next morning, with Beth enjoying a lie-in, Bertram decides to explore a bit further afield.

A helicopter trip over a volcano is right up his street!

There’s always one, isn’t there? You’ve had a helicopter flight, so they can actually fly a plane.

One last romantic evening, under the stars, with the sound of the waves washing over them.

A peaceful early-morning snuggle.

And then it’s time to rejoin the real world!

The Bennet Family Album: Volume III

Bertram and Beth might not have much - just a few second-hand treasures gleaned by Beth from local charity shops and flea markets - but they're very much enjoying having their own space.

Soon the reason for Beth feeling under the weather at sister Joanna’s welcome-home party makes itself apparent.

My Sims just love to do everything in their bathrooms.

It’s a boy! With the Bennet brown eyes.

Hello, Brandon!

He is new father Bertram’s pride and joy.

But they grow up so fast! (Actually, I’m just impatient.)
