It's ridiculous how a NETWORK could disrespect one of the biggest artist in the world and think they can get away with it by deleting it.

“Black Panther” Television Series
WOW! This television series had it all: action, satire, history, and gore. I would highly recommend this show to everyone. In the beginning I was unsure if I would like this show because it started off with so much gore. Throughout the opening scenes, I kept thinking about the fact that this was considered a television show for kids. How? However, as the show progressed it only got better. Not to mention that the magnificent Ororo also makes a few appearances in the show. The biggest downside to this show is the fact that there are only six episodes. I would love to add this show to the list of shows I watch religiously.
Let’s talk about the action. SHURI! Shuri was everything. She was funny, strong, and brilliant. I’m disappointed that Shuri did not receive her chance to be the Black Panther. T’Challa really took the spotlight from her but then again, she did get herself stuck under a giant man because she was not paying attention. I wish we could have seen more of Shuri in action. The show ended with her having possession of the sword that can cut through anything and she wielded it flawlessly. BET really just gave us this little taste of Shuri and just fell off the map. Moving on to Black Panther versus Captain America. Captain America was so disrespectful and Black Panther was not having it. As soon as Captain America pointed that finger of his, Black Panther simply said, “mistake” and body slammed Captain America. I was living for this. One downside to the action was, unlike the movie, we really didn’t get to see the women of Wakanda show their prowess as warriors. We saw a few examples, but we did not receive enough.
Like I previously mentioned, the opening scenes were very gory. You see an outside tribe try to invade Wakanda and in doing so, they were skewered by traps set by the Wakandans. You could see all of the blood spilling and needles going through their skin. After the initial shock, you are prepared for the rest of the gore throughout the series. More scenes of gore include seeing the previous king get his leg lasered off by Claw, M’Butu beating his subordinate ruthlessly, T’Challa beating M’Butu to a pulp, and T’Challa spearing Claw to death. I think my favorite gory scene was the scene where Shuri defends herself by cutting Radioactive Man into two with her newly-found weapon. Radioactive Man was so cocky and disrespectful but Shuri put him in his place.
This show also included some of the Wakandan history and traditions. We got to know more about Wakanda than ever before. Did you know that Wakanda sits on tons of oil mines that are untouched? Wakanda has never been successfully invaded nor has it ever invaded another country. We learned about the different traditions like the Battle for the Crown, where anyone belonging to Wakanda can be crowned king by defeating the current Black Panther. This is how T’Challa received the crown from his uncle. Another tradition was the long walk boys had to do to transfer over into adulthood. They had to walk from one side of Africa to another.
Some of my favorite parts of the show is when they read America for filth. The council of Wakanda was discussing how they would be willing to give America the cure to cancer in exchange for the man who killed T’Challa’s father. One member of the council remarked that America would never because in doing so they would have to admit their complicity. He also said that America would never because they do not care about their people; if they did, they would not sell cigarettes. After this remark, another council member goes on to say that even if America did take the cure, they would just weaponize it like they do with everything else. I was in shock. Where is the lie? We have seen firsthand just how little America cares for its people, especially if you don’t have any similarities to Barbie or Ken. The reading America for filth does not stop here. King T’Chaka once met with government officials from America and called them, to their faces, “sullen teenagers that think they are more mature than their behavior warrants”. He then goes on to say that America could have made so many more technological discoveries if they stop being so worried about making a profit off of misery. However, my absolute favorite part is when King T’Chaka says "I understand your frustration in dealing with a black man who can't be bought with a truck full of guns, a plane full of blondes, and a Swiss bank account". YES, King T’Chaka, put this white man in his place. He got way too comfortable. I stan King T’Chaka.
All in all, this television show is amazing. This show deserves more. I would love to see what is next for Wakanda. BET Network, if you ever see this, please bring back the Black Panther television series. Y’all make terrible investments but this one was fantastic. Stop airing Baby Boy so frequently and air this show. Thank you.
