Last week Capturing Belief student's got to explore part of a neighborhood off Gratiot Ave. at Harper. We met Makeeba Pride, her son Corey Pride, and her granddaughter Casey whose family moved there more than forty years ago. They had a great love for the place and their neighbors at the exception of the abandoned home next door. Water had been running in the basement for a long time then squatters took it over. Makeeba chased them away but now rats are a problem so she keeps a cat to help with the issue. Makeeba has been calling the city asking for the housse to be demolished, without success so far. The apprentices also visited the Better Made Snacks food factory where they saw how potato chips are made and by the time the tour was done pretended to work there wearing their sanitation suit. They asked and did take the suits home! #capturingbelief #detroitlove #detroit #bettermadesnacks #gratiot (at Detroit, Michigan)
