They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. You should never be afraid of taking influence from that which surrounds you. Nothing is original these days.

(We are post modernist revolutionaries, clearly.) And, we can be pretentious about it — did you hear about this theory called Mimesis?

NEVER FORGET! We are not robots, we are not automatons, we are not complete and utter idiots. WE ARE BECOMING.

Mimicry: this is learning. This is understanding. This is child's play and this is what we do to become better and we are better. We are better we are well rounded and we are stopping in the streets to find meaning for ourselves.

Did you lose your imagination?

Occasionally, an incredible urge takes over you. It begins with your eyes and ends with your feet, your fingertips, your face.

DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE?

Some call it empathy: You are looking into —and drawing out— the emotion of something else, to feel it yourself.

Others call it imitation: You do not personify an object, you merely copy it.

It’s even been dubbed plain mimicry. A parrot knows nothing of what it repeats. It does not understand words. This is child's play.

Is it dance? Is it art? Is it the desire to change oneself?

Maybe you are not happy being who you are. You question life, reality, the essence of the self.

This is not sport. (It might be.) This is not merely a game. (There is only one rule.) You cannot call a spade by any other name but a spade. (There is just one moniker for this phenomenon.)

We, the ineffable, know it’s true name. This, friends, is #bewhatyousee. Thank you for playing.

If you're following this blog in any capacity, you'll already be au fait with Be What You See. If you're not, the game is a bit like the ol' Ronseal deal: exactly what it says on the tin. You know what I mean.

It's something I've been doing since I had eyes, but this game really came into play for me in San Francisco with the awesome lass featured below 'being' an antelope. That's where the not-exactly-but-sort-of genius phrase 'be what you see' came from and that's where the revolution really began.

You might have played this and not even known it had a name. Well, it does.

Since the original post there've been a few new Be What You Sees to add and a few old ones that didn't make it into the first. For your viewing pleasure, here are more folks being what they see.

It's not as easy as it sounds.

The trick is to try and get into the mind of the object you are being.

Get your head around what it's thinking. And, almost, simply copy what it looks like.

Observe its habits. Consider its mass. Are you being what you see? Or are you simply standing there, confused?

Not everyone can do it. (Everyone can do it.)

This is no frivolous thing. (It is.) It's not just about angles and the positioning. (It is.)

It's about letting it invade your mind — become the thing.
