Knowing that I have to work twice as hard to be viewed as half as good doesn't diminish my perception of myself as an awesome black woman. On the contrary, it lets me know that I am better, I am stronger, I am more capable of anything they could possibly imagine - because I managed to get where I am despite having everything thrown at me to keep me back.
