"Say, Alphonse. You'd be a decent addition to the 'dream-team' I've got here. What do you say? You up to a little raising hell? Stealing all the lonely cats the world's got to offer? I'll even put our little skirmish back in Dublith behind us. Forgive, forget and all that garbage." -Greedling
The scream that comes out of the giant suit of armor’s mouthpiece area is hardly befitting a goliath the size of Alphonse Elric. But he is still a boy and Greed has a way of… appearing. The hommunculi all do, it seems. Alphonse moves quickly from terrified to a solid fighting stance.
“Mom told me never to go with strangers,” he said, his voice oddly dangerous given its previous statement. “And I don’t know you.”
But he does. He does know this one. All the same, it would be perhaps better if he did not.
Hey Alphonse! You're a lot sassier than they give you credit for, keep up the good work kid
The boy is surprised by the compliment and blushes--or feels he’s blushing. He’s a suit of armor, after all, with no arteries or capillaries with which to pump blood to cheeks that do not exist.
“Me? Oh--ah, thanks!” He straightens, scratching the back of what should be his head, but what is, in fact, a hollow helmet. He looks guilty of something, but something small, and boyish--something like being caught with his hand in the metaphorical cookie jar. As if to confirm this, a cat trills happily from, of all place, somewhere inside the armor which houses Alphonse Elric’s soul.
DOB: 1900
Hometown: Resembool
Family: Van Hoenheim (Father, MIA), Trisha (mother, deceased), Edward (brother, living)
Height: taller than Ed.
Bio: The son of Trisha Elric and Van Hoenheim, a mysterious alchemist, Alphonse inherits his father's talent for alchemy. Alongside his brother Ed, the two boys grow up healthy and curious, 'til one fateful day, when Trisha's unannounced illness steals her from them. After that, the Elric brothers set about learning everything they can about the most forbidden form of alchemy:
Human transmutation.
They have the materials, the proper array, the blood (which they think is equivalent to a human soul). Everything is set one rainy night and, as the weather howls all around the small home they once shared with their mother, Edward and Alphonse begin the preparations for bringing her back. The alchemical reaction goes horribly wrong and steals away Al's body and Edward's left leg. In a last ditch effort to keep Al with him, Edward scribbles blood alchemy on the inside of a suit of armor, forcing a bond of soul to steel and costing his right arm.
Edward barely survives the encounter with the Gate, what he later refers to as The Truth, but it is from this that he learns to use alchemy sans array. All that will be for naught, however, if Alphonse cannot bring him to the safety of the Rockbell home. He has lost a lot of blood, but the boy is tough, hanging tightly to life for his brother's sake.
The two boys live for each other. They fight and grieve and laugh for each other. They have nothing else.
Appearance: A tall, broad suit of armor with the crest of Flamel on one shoulder. (03, tall willowy young man with long, dark blond hair and soft, golden brown eyes), (brotherhood, tall willowy young man with bright gold hair and eyes, same as Ed)
Personality: Sweet, passive, and gentle, Alphonse is by far the more agreeable of the brothers, but if pushed, he will lash out with a force and violence that can only be mustered by a child.
