Mt. Hapunang Banoi: The Summit
This is my first hiking experience and I can say that it’s indeed tiring yet fulfilling; draining yet overwhelming.
At the Summit of Mt. Hapunang Banoi …
At the Summit: Appreciating the wonderful creation of God
Mt. Hapunang Banoi is one of a kind limestone formations situated in Sierra Madre Mountain Range. It’s not easy to climb because the second half of the trail going to the summit was more challenging, and dangerous yet breathtaking wherein scrambling and rock climbing skills were needed. There were also series of crevasse going to summit and the edges of every rock formations was sharp enough that can cause cuts and bruises. But those dangerous and risky ways toward the summit didn’t matter to me because my goal is to see the one of the beautiful paradises that God created on earth. Even at first. I really felt butterflies in my stomach and my friends are really good in it. So, only I, is neophyte in this kind of stuff. But it didn’t matter too, because my goal is to reach the top, and I did it because of God’s amazing grace, protection, guidance and strength.
I truly learned a lot. I learned to appreciate the beauty and importance of nature. I learned to communicate and be friend in people with different personality on the way to the summit. Most of all, I learned how to be strong enough and eager to go further and achieve things that I want in my life. Yes, it’s true that you really need to exert extra efforts, energy and determination to get to the summit, but the view on the top is enough reward to make the hardship from the trail worthwhile.
