“ why are you looking at me like that? ” ( emily ) @bichazards
oh -- damn. she didn't realize that she was staring, not until emily's voice hit her ears and grace realized that she hadn't blinked in at least a minute. eyes were dry, burning just slightly as she closed and reopened them. ah, shit.
"what?! n-nothing! it's... it's nothing." but her cheeks were betraying her, as they often did. grace could feel the quick descent of her blush from the tips of her ears, to her cheeks, down her neck... she was a terrible liar, both in speech as well as looks. her face would continue to betray her.
"uhm... i-it's just..." trailing off then as her brain lagged like old dial up internet, sparking and beeping and resetting over and over again before she finally cleared her throat. "nothing. i was just, uh... staring into space. which is s-stupid because we... i mean, i really need to focus." just strike her down with lightning at this point. it would be less painful. as if to distract -- to push away her embarrassment, grace took her handgun, checked the ammunition, and pretended to count like she hadn't already counted about a hundred times in the last twenty minutes.
"running low. uhm... w-we might have to stop soon to look for more."
