it’s a little outrageous how enjoyable growing mammoth sunflowers has been. you blink and suddenly their stalks are twice as big around as your wrists, and soon they’re standing over you like living, bee-laden street lights. scrubbing away their center flowers has to be one of the greatest things I’ve gotten to do all year.

this variety has white hulls. we’ll be able to dry and roast the seeds now!
