The Store Guy: What’s going on…?
Lorenzo: I saw you get mugged by that one guy, I had to get you to a hospital. You’re with the Speedwagon Foundation, so don’t worry. You're in good hands and they'll get you healed up pretty quick.
The Store Guy: I don't feel right… What did that guy do to me?
Lorenzo contemplates telling him the truth about him being attacked by a vampire. He looks over to the other speedwagon foundation members to silently get approval, and they respond with a small nod.
Lorenzo: I know this is hard to believe, but the easiest way I can tell you this is that the man who attacked you really drained your blood.
Lorenzo: They saw your ID in your wallet when they retrieved you. Your name is Demitris, right? Mine is Lorenzo. And, thanks for giving me my wallet back, hah. They found it in your pocket as well. That’s why you were trying to get my attention, huh?
Lorenzo could tell that Demitris was feeling out of it. He was lying there in the hospital bed looking half dead. I mean, he did just get attacked by a vampire, it makes sense that he would be kind of confused and quiet as he laid there.
Speedwagon Foundation Member: Demitris, now that you’re awake, you’re at our Speedwagon Foundation Hospital in the Athens location… We will be treating you for severe blood loss. Thankfully, Lorenzo and some other speedwagon foundation members were able to call us just in time to treat your condition. You will be here for only a few days as long as there are no complications. Is there any family we could call to notify of your location?
Demitris: No! You can’t do that. Please, just let me give you my information here.
Speedwagon Foundation Member: Yes, of course. Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll ask you a few questions about your background and your condition….
Lorenzo quickly read the room and silently left Demitris with the Speedwagon Foundation member. His mother was waiting outside in the waiting room with Percy and Louis.
Lorenzo: He’s okay. They said he should only be in there for another few days. I think they'll tell him about the vampire at some point. I didn’t really feel like it was the right time for me to say anything.
Gianna: What happened to you two??
Lorenzo: I can talk about it on the way home.
Louis: Alright, me and Percy can drive you both to the apartment.
The four of them went out to the parking lot and entered the car, this one being Percy’s personal car. It was about a 15 minute car ride back to the apartment, since the foundation’s hospital was almost on the opposite side of the city. As they arrived at the apartment, Percy and Louis watched Gianna and Lorenzo enter the door, and they sat there in the car as they locked the door behind them.
Louis: *sigh..* You think they’re gonna stick with this?
Percy: Honestly, not sure. Seems like they’re set on it now, but they don't seem to have much motivation behind it yet. I’m honestly surprised they agreed to do this in the first place after being so against Hamon for their entire life. Let’s just hope they find a reason to keep trying this out. I get that it's hard to change your lifestyle completely.
Louis looks back over to the apartment’s front door.
Louis: I have a feeling they’ll want to keep with it. Blur is a tough trainer, and of course being actual vampire hunters is definitely crazy, but they are Zeppelis.
Percy drives off as the only light in the apartment’s window turns off.
Gianna opens the front door to their apartment and turns on the kitchen light. She washes her hands in the sink as Lorenzo hands her a towel to dry them.
Lorenzo: Mamma, are you really sure about this?
Gianna: Of course not. You know how I feel about these guys.. And using hamon.
Lorenzo: Then, how did I convince you?
Gianna: Well… it's complicated. As a kid, my brother left home without saying anything. He was so close with me and our siblings, but after my father left, he just became an absolute mess. He left home one day, and I never saw him again. The speedwagon foundation told us what happened to Caesar, and ever since I found out about my ability to use hamon, I refused to. I didn’t want anything bad to happen to my family because of the Joestars, the Speedwagon foundation, and anything else that could risk our lives.
But, as I grew older, my hamon became more experienced even without training myself. It became routine to use hamon in my everyday activities. Not because I was trying to, but because my body would release hamon even with the slightest change in my breath.
Lorenzo: Did Dad know about any of this?
Gianna: Well, somewhat. But I hate talking about this. Besides, after you were born, it’s not like he cared about my feelings.
Lorenzo: …It's getting late.
Gianna rested the towel on the towel rack and tried to give Lorenzo a hug.
Lorenzo: We should both go to bed. We’re meeting our trainer tomorrow, remember?
Gianna: Yeah, our last day as normal people, huh? Haha..
There was a lingering feeling that was hanging over both of them that they refused to acknowledge. Lorenzo walks over to his bedroom door…
…he closes it behind him and lays down in his bed.
Talking about his father always made him feel this way. Of course, he brought him up to his mother thinking it would feel different this time. But even as a child, his father only called occasionally, until it eventually stopped altogether unless he was the one to reach out first. Lorenzo always thought they were closer than they really were. Over time, he discovered that calling his father felt happier when he made more and more accomplishments. Getting his first job, graduating high school, it all seemed to bring him and his father closer. Maybe telling his father about being in Greece would do the same. But, for now, he’s overcome with this feeling of loneliness again.
The morning sun rises, and Louis and Percy once again arrive at the apartment. Gianna and Lorenzo are woken up by the sound of the men entering the door, wishing the two a good morning. Percy and Louis both wait in the kitchen area for the other two to fully wake up and meet them in order to begin their first day of training.
As Gianna and Lorenzo greet Louis and Percy, they are given two basic Speedwagon Foundation uniforms and two new pairs of gloves.
Lorenzo: Hey, what are these gloves for? Wouldn't they mess up our direction of Hamon?
Louis: No, actually. We were asked to give these to you before you started training. Your uncle Caesar used a specific method to enhance his hamon using these gloves. When you arrive at our facility, they can explain it better for you. No need to put them on yet, just keep them on hand.
Gianna and Lorenzo file into Percy’s car after changing into their new uniforms. It wasn’t long before the four arrived at the facility. It didn't look like much from the outside, just a large circular wall of bricks. They wondered what the building looked like on the inside for it to be built like this. When they entered the building, Louis and Percy gave them a short rundown of the areas they'd need to know about in the facility.
Percy: … and while you're actually with your trainer, the rest of the members of the foundation at this location will be able to keep an eye on you all just in case something goes wrong. So, there's no need to worry once you enter the main room.
Well, anyways, let's get to it then.
Percy pushes down on a large lever to the side of two large industrial doors, making them open. They are walked into the main room of the facility, a large open space that looks just like an open clearing in nature. The room itself didn't even look like a room. The clearing looked like it went on for miles, and the ceiling was at least 30 feet high. Instead of a roof, the entire crest of the room was made of glass, allowing everyone inside to feel as though they were really outside. This was not what either of them were expecting at all. Upon entering the room, Percy and Louis back out and encourage them to do their best. The two still feel uneasy about the whole situation, having no idea what to expect.
It all feels so quick, especially not really knowing their end goal within this entire situation. After Percy and Louis are gone, Gianna and Lorenzo step forward into the space to be greeted by a stout but muscular man, towering over the two of them as he faces away from them.
Author notes: so this has kind of become a weekly upload thing but it most definitely will not be that in the future. I have like 2 or 3 more chapters already written that I’m posting occasionally but once I’m done posting those, I’ll release them slower as I make them. also sorry for the weird photo formats this was originally meant to be formatted on google docs
