So in just bow watching the gifted. I'm curious have you already dropped an opinion on the show yet?

I think I would be obsessed with it if I hadn't seen Legion. That show was so amazing it ruined TV for me.

I enjoyed Gifted but at the same time it's a little…soft. It's like the Disney version of X-Men and given that Disney now owns X-Men that can be extremely depressing.

The premise is okay. The plot is palatable. The actors are extremely talented. The characters are interesting and more diverse than average. I immediately shipped the characters the writers intended people to ship. The most fun I have from watching it is being an X-Men fan and finding the Easter eggs.

I think would be better if it was more critical of the realities of consumerism and police states. It feels disingenuous to live in this world, or at least to watch the news, and then try to sympathize with metaphors that don't deal with nearly as much as the average person does.

It's like a kid friendly DOFP.

I'm still obsessed with it. I'm just not impressed enough to talk about it.

Didn't want to add unnecessary comment to the BH post, so I know people in the Fandom gonna hate me but I prefer the U.S version over the U.K one. So I never finished the British one. May I ask why the British over the U.S for you?

But I do also love what BHUK did with S3 (Mitchell’s downfall), and I consider it to be one of the best seasons of television, maybe ever. It starts with Mitchell facing his victims to save Annie from Purgatory, and honestly, since that episode I haven’t been able to get into most other vampire stories to the point where if I watch like Near Dark (once my favorite movie), I feel like it’s really just… unchallenging. The fact that they treated the massacre as a real world crime and the way that affected the people in his life (who for the most part KNEW he was a vampire yet couldn’t accept the killing because those were real people) was devastating… There has never been a vampire consequence arc like that that I have seen, and I’ve seen a lot of vampire movies. 

But yeah. Annie has been a very majorly important character for me, and to be totally honest, I didn’t love that they changed her race (which was fully acknowledged as mixed Black with a white mother, which is still rare from a US media perspective) in the US version, even though she’s not white.

Curious but outside of the first & fourth movie is Voldemort still disabled?

Christy has never seen any of the Harry Potter movies or read any of the books, so she’s passed this on to me.

Oh man, can I just give Christy’s stock answer that he is if he wants to identify that way? I’m hardly the best person to speak on this since I’m not disabled… but I feel like, given Voldemort’s personality and history, he could be obviously severely disabled and would refuse to label himself as such for like, hypocritical/eugenics-y reasons? I mean, Voldemort and his followers are basically a stand in for Nazis soooo…

Plus, like… There’s magic involved, so if we go with the mode of thought that it’s society’s inaccessibility that truly disables someone, Voldemort’s condition that may have rendered a non-wizard/witch disabled doesn’t exactly impact him in the same way, because magic.
