This is not a reblog of spam. I'm just documenting and trying to figure out what's going on with all this spam shit. It's looking more complex than we thought. That's an image, not the actual spam post.
There are various, distinct spam blog types, with very little overlap. But at least some of them seem related.
So they're are blogs that:
Post links (see above) and include a bunch of tags that get those posts included in our feeds. GD MFs...
Blogs that "like" those posts, who apparently don't post anything themselves. Some of those do post the usual cliché bikini or underwear pics, but not links. Oddly, they typically do post those odd code numbers.
A few various blogs who also have hit "like" in those link+tags bait posts. These get a little nebulous as to their spamminess. The garbage the post is suspect, but not completely outside the very wide range of typical tumblr garbage (TTG).
There's a basic similarity between these blog types and other spam-bots, but now I'm seeing somewhat subtle specialization, like bees in a hive... Drones, Workers, and... Thots.
The blogs following us real blogs (URB) mostly fall into a few categories, as most users have seen:
Blogs with a few words of identification (things like age, name, profession, sex-interest, hobby...) and a typical babe shot auto-harvested from google as a profile pic.
Similar blogs with nothing but the pfp.
Rando blogs with all or mostly underwear/bikini shots. Often there's other garbage posts. IDK the purpose of these either. Some might just be basic ass people who use tumblr as a free subscription to PLAYBOY(?) No articles, though, but yeah, they're functionally illiterate, so...
Well, that's about it for my brain powers of attention span for today.
I will say that I totally get that most users have no time to bother reporting spam posts or spam-bots. But I'm also hoping that if enough of us do report them, tumblr will create an actual solution to rid the platform of bots again. IDK why these haven't been fileted out already. Hasn't tumblr already dealt with crap like this back in the day?
